an unlikely friendship

I’m finally getting my project for last week’s TTIC challenge posted today. Last week Erica posted the theme: An Unlikely Friendship and it was such an awesome theme. I was so excited to work on it and then got bogged down with work and couldn’t get it done in time… boo. So here is is:

So here was the challenge:

For the craft portion: Make a project using at least 2 items that you wouldn’t think normally go together. Whether it be two colors, or two different patterns or something elegant and rough, it is up to you. As far as the subject, have fun with it. Celebrate one of your unlikely friendships or an unlikely friendship in the Twilight Saga.

Um, right. If you know me then you know that this was pretty hard for me. I was really excited about it and then when it came right down to it I struggled to come up with two odd things to put together. So I went to the store to see if I could get some inspiration. Well I found this beautiful paper from My Minds Eye that I HAD to get and use. Then as I was wandering I came upon a bag of unfinished wood shapes. I grabbed that. Then some paint to match the paper. Then I found a few felt sheets in some colors that coordniated. Now it’s not an Earth shatteringly original combination but it’s sort of unique I think.

So I painted the little shapes and turned them into a flower with a button center. Then I used my Nesties to cut the felt and paper to make a border for the flower. I also distressed the heck out of everything. And Distress Ink does stick to acrylic paint… WOO HOO.  And there you have it. 😀

Here are the details:

Paper: My Mind’s Eye, Bazzill Basics card stock
Ink: Distress Ink in Walnut Stain
Accessories: Felt, wood shapes, acrylic craft paint, buttons from Bo Bunny, MS Lattice Punch.
