April I {Heart} Sketches!!
I am so excited to be the April I {heart} Sketches Designer of the Month! When Jen emailed me I literally SQUEALED… not a noise I typically make, lol. So lets get going. It’s the first Saturday of the month so that means it’s a brand new sketch!!
This month the sponsor is Unity Stamp Co. and they sent us some GORGEOUS Itty Bitty stamps to work with. I chose the Dream Big Itty Bitty. I’m a sucker for a good butterfly stamp and this one was different that the other butterfly stamps I have. It has a gorgeous vintage feel to it that I adore. I went with the vintage feel and pulled out my Thrift Shop paper pad from October Afternoon. I LOVE that paper so I use a little, hoard a little, use a little… lol. I went a little crazy distressing the papers and stamping/inking the edges but I really like how it turned out!
Here’s the scoop on what I did. I stamped the butterflies and sentiment on PTI rustic cream cardstock in Versamark ink and embossed it with Ranger black embossing powder. I haven’t done that in AGES. Then I cut all my dp panels and borders. Next I pulled out my Tim Holtz Bitty Grunge stamps and some Vintage Photo Distress Ink and got to work stamping up the edges. I used the splatter stamp around the edge of the main panel and the screen pattern and the splatter pattern on the main background. I sponged Vintage Photo on everything pretty heavily and used a distress tool on the polka dot paper. Next I glued everything together and pulled some twin through the three red buttons, glued those on and I was done.
So what do you think? I don’t stamp like this very often but it is one of my very favorite ways to make a card and it’s pretty quick too even with all that inking, not to mention messy! Here’s a little shot of the embossing, mostly because I like the photo, lol.
