Lately I’ve been drooling over Donna’s fantastic distressing techniques. She’ll verify… I’m sure there are still puddles in her comments. :-P

So I decided if I was going to get better at it I better start practicing. This is the first in a series of little note cards…

Hello, note card, hand stamped, hand distressed

I wanted to practice with inking the edges of the papers to give them a more vintagey feel. On my previous cards I had been using little sponges but I wasn’t getting a look I liked so I tried using Q-tips on this card. It’s not the soft look I wanted but I still sort of like it, especially on the textured card stock. It’s a bit more rugged but I like the randomness of the shading.

Paper: American Craft: Everyday, Martha Stewart card stock
, Bazzill Basics card stock
Ink: StazOn Timber Brown, Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tea Stain and Walnut Stain

Embellishments: Pop Dots, Prismacolor Scholars
