I’m the lucky girl that gets to choose this week’s challenge and I decided to do something a little different this week and choose a color as our theme.
Blue.
Blue is mentioned a lot throughout the Twilight Saga because Edward loves Bella in blue. So this week we are devoting our challenges to that color. Blue.
Here’s what I came up with…
Now I didn’t do the entire card in blue because I really wanted to focus on highlighting the color instead. I found this gorgeous paper last week at Archivers and I had to buy it.
When I started this card I went a little layer crazy and I really like the result! The dark blue isn’t actually in the background paper at all but I think it compliments it nicely.
To create the flower focal point I stamped 5 individual flower petals, colored them with Prismas and used a touch of Gamsol to blend the pencil. I glued them down to a basic white card stock after I inked the edges with Distress Ink in Walnut. I added red center and then decided that it needed more so I curled the edges of the flower up just a tad and then added a hand drawn swirl between each petal and a dew drop center.
I really like how the final card came out!
The second half of today challenge was to answer the question: “What is your favorite color to wear…” Well its sort of an odd choice I think but I’d have to say brown with silver jewelry. With all my dark hair, dark eyes and really pale skin, well, it’s not pale right now but in a month I’ll look like a ghost again, brown seems to work for me. And I like how utilitarian it is… it goes with everything and it’s a little different than black. You might have also noticed that I use a TON of brown in my cards… I think I’ve only used black ink once, hehe.
