Twilight Challenge 41: The Love Triangle
This week Eve picked a fantastic (and HARD) challenge for us! She always has the most thought provoking challenges and this week is no different. Here is what she said:
It’s complicated….we all know that. I mean really could you choose? Well for some of us it is easy {Edward for me!} However, for Bella it is a little more difficult. Jacob fills that void {or hole} while Edward is gone. And does a pretty good job at it. It is complicated and for sure- a love triangle at it’s best. Is Jacob more of a brother type figure? Or do you see Bella falling into love with Jacob while Edward is gone? There are so many angles to this triangle……..
For craft challenge:
Make a card {or other item} that represents the love triangle between Bella, Edward, and Jacob.
For comment challenge:
What do you feel were some of the down falls of this love triangle? What do you feel were some of the high points?
My submissions for this week are going to be in two parts, one for Edward and one for Jacob. First up is my project for Jacob… he’s nothing if not the best friend Bella could have asked for even if he wishes for more. With this card I tried to capture the sort of rustic image I had of Jacob when I read about his character in the beginning of New Moon… the fun, nice, supportive, friendly guy any girl would be happy to have as a best friend.
For this card I revisted the paper I used on Ben’s robot card and I happy to say this turned out totally different. I LOVE this paper. It’s by Jen Wilson for My Mind’s Eye and is called 29th Street Market. It’s gorgeous, thick, textured card stock… it’s really blissful to design with. The background card stock is by Bazzill Basics… and I’m not sure of the color names.
I actually started this card with the punched paper ‘ribbon’ in the center. I used the MS Lattice edge punch on either side of a piece of card stock to make the faux ribbon and then distressed it with Distress Ink in Walnut Stain. The tree image is from Inkadinkadoo and is colored lightly with Prismacolors and then distressed with the Walnut Stain and a little Vintage Linen Distress Ink.
To emphasize the ‘friendly’ nature of Bella and Jacob’s relationship I used this friends stamp from Hampton Arts with Versamark on brown card stock, distressed it with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and added some copper brads to the corners.
I’m really happy with how it all came together!
I’m running a little behind on my Edward project because I’m still sort of slow at this stamping thing so that will hopefully be up later today or tomorrow.
Now onto Eve’s questions… What are my opinions on the love triangle… well. I honestly just sort of took it as it was. The beginning of New Moon is one of my favorite parts of the series. It wasn’t initially but after I re-read it I really enjoyed it and it’s definitely my favorite part of Jake’s character. But I also really loved the end when Edward comes back because… well he’s Edward. I get why Bella had such a hard time.
What do you think?

Awesome card. Love the colors and image. How perfect is the tree with three birds and one on of the on the ground. The paper is beautiful. Don’t you love paper that you can use again and again but get completely different results?! I can’t believe you say you are just getting into the stamping thing because you do such a wonderful job at it!

Beautiful job – I love that stamp set!
Your friend card is beautiful and I think it definitely captures Jacob in the beginning of New Moon. I just finished reading it and LOVED it. The beginning was good but boy the whole Edward, Italy thing – from there I was in tears and couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to see your Edward project!!
