The super duper wonderful Sarabeth (my super talented fellow Stamp Sistah) decided to do something NICE. She announced a couple of weeks back that she just wanted to do something nice and so she decided to start a nice blog hop, the whole idea being to tell about something nice you’ve done and share a craft and pass it on.
So my nice thing… well last week I made this bookmark:

Happy birthday!! I did something nice today, I made a little boy and girl very happy by passing on some Power Rangers, Dora the Explorer and Winnie the Pooh bedding my own children have outgrown (they’re not too big for it lol – just too old!!) It’s only a little thing, but this blog hop has inspired me to try to squeeze a bit more ‘niceness’ into my weekend

The bookmark is beautiful too! So elegant.
Anyway, such a huge blog candy requires me to actually relate a story about being nice that I haven’t spoken about on other blogs because it isn’t really scrapping related.
I was in the uni cafeteria one day with a couple of friends when a distressed looking woman walked in. She was going up to different tables, trying to get help but obviously having difficulty because of a language barrier. See, she was Thai and in Australia most people only speak English. The other tables seemed to either ignore her or just give up on trying to understand her attempts at broken English.
When she reached my table, my friends had already decided that they didn’t have the time to help her, so they were busy getting ready to leave as an excuse. I couldn’t do that though. I can’t stand seeing someone in distress and it really upsets me when other people can’t even be bothered to try helping.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, she and her husband were part of a bus tour of Brisbane, but somehow the bus had left her and her husband behind at Southbank (where my uni campus was). She didn’t know how to contact them and didn’t have a mobile phone, so I helped her out by using the payphone to use directory assistance to call her tour company (at least she had the name written down) and then once the specific bus was located and notified, I waited with them until the bus returned to pick them up.
They were so grateful that a couple of months later, I received a card from them in Thailand telling me that my helping them was the highlight of their trip to Australia.
Sorry that was such a long comment, but I thought your generosity, Jen, justified it!

My nice deed: my best friend just had surgery to remove cervical cancer. She has been stuck in her house and really down. So I made her my special baked mac n cheese. Tomorrow I am taking her to breakfast and to get a pedicure!
I went to lunch with one of my friends and we stopped for some delicious pie and I saw they had one of my hubby’s favorites so I bought him a piece and brought it home! He was super happy!

Wow, your necklace is gorgeous! More beautiful than what you could find in a store. My most recent ‘niceness’ is a little album I am almost finished making for my husband’s granddaughter. His family visited last weekend and I used pictures we took then. We haven’t seen her in four years and I know she will treasure the album.

One nice thing I do each month is when I pay our rent I sit and talk to our landlady for about an hour. I dont really like her that much (shhh) and there is a bit of a language barrier, but her mother and husband have passed away and she is always desperate to have me sit down and talk. So I make nice and have a good visit.
On my blog I made some digi word art that hybrid folks could print off and use for cards or what not.
