It's a different shutter mechanism than a point and shoot camera. I don't think I've found a point and shoot that didn't have a little delay. The SLR's are automatic or manual so you let the camera set itself or you set the shutter speed/f-stop and it fires... bad settings or good. I'm in the market for a new camera and heard that no matter what model, there's a lag time in all Canons, so taking subsequent photos might be hard, and/or when you hit the button, the shutter has a lag time so your subject may have moved.
