the girl scouts are plotting against me

That’s right. You heard me. They are out to get me. How you ask?? It’s those dang cookies.

I resolved this year that I would not buy Girl Scout cookies because they put some kind of addictive substance in there that requires you eat 4 times the recommended portion size in one sitting. So I didn’t buy any.

But they still found me.

The teachers lounge. The lunch room. My collegue was eating them in the hallway. The lake. The babysitters house for goodness sake.

So I lost it. I bought some. Peanut Butter Patties and Lemonades. Now they torment me. I haven’t opened them. I’m hoping that maybe the idea of just having them around know how good they potentially taste will keep me from eating them and wrecking my progress on the road to healthy.

Maybe I’ll just throw them away….. who am I kidding? I’ll eat them.

So on to the weekly update…. I’m stalling because I really have nothing to report. I haven’t lost. I haven’t gained. I’m still the same as last week and the week before that. I’d say it’s time to kick it up a notch and dig out that water bottle that I have been neglecting since the winter break. I will have a loss to report next week. I will, I tell you.

  1. Fortunately, I do not like Girl Guide Cookies. I know, what the heck is wrong with me? Um, wait, I think I like their new mint ones. Well, new-ish. They’ve likely been around for years. Come to think of it, I haven’t seen a real live Brownie or Girl Guide in years. Huh!

I think plateaus are normal. It’s a sign that you are bored and need to spice things up a bit, and try something new. And maintaining means you are still doing something right.

Don’t like Girl Scout Cookies…. that might be bordering on blasphemous.

You are exactly right – I am bored. It’s time to mix it up a bit.

  2. The Thin Mints are what get me. I could eat a whole tube in one sitting. But, they are “THIN” mints, right? So, they must be diet food.

Thankfully I really don’t like mint otherwise I’d be in so MUCH trouble.

  3. Uh ok, yeah. I’m with you. I guess no dieting until I get my ONE box of tagalongs (peanut butter ones…I know they’re called different names in different places).

  4. You BOUGHT GIRL SCOUT COOKIES?!

Well OF COURSE you’re going to eat them! You can’t NOT eat them! That would be like buying an HDTV and only watching the weather channel.

I think I wrote something about evil girl scouts back in 2006 at the paper (the first time I was trying to lose 100 pounds). I’ll have to check my old columns, maybe I can recycle the idea over at BlogToFit.

Anyway, I left some advice (for whatever it’s worth) over at the BtF post today.

    Good luck, Jen.

I would suggest you get rid of those cookies ASAP!

I know, I know, what was I thinking. I bought them.

You better watch what you ask for… the whole lot of them may end up on your door step. ;)

  5. My philosophy of girl scout cookies…
They only come once a year, so why not get some and eat them. The only problem is that I always buy like 8 boxes. Then I think I just need to eat them all as fast as I can so they are gone. Not good thinking…

I may need to take this route. I only bought 4 boxes and I’m sure I can hide two of them in a place where I’ll forget them. :D

  6. Had to come by via BTF. I was finally directly asked about buying some this week. My only saving grace if I do buy them is that my husband is a fiend and eats them all at once so that leaves less for me, unless I carefully mark the boxes as to whose is whose. ; )

LOL, that’s a great idea. I wish my husband liked GSC but he doesn’t really seem to.

  7. Yes they are and I think they put heroine in those there cookies, exactly my brand of heroine. LOL. I haven’t met a girl scout cookie I didn’t like, luckily they don’t go door to door anymore (that’s with I had to do, not good for a highly insecure and shy 8 – 10 yo, BTW), otherwise I’d be in big trouble, my entire living room would be filled with the empty box carcasses! Now I only have to avoid the break room the cookie sheets are in.

  8. I got my GS cookies last night, and I told the Pineapple that she can only have 2 in a day or she can never be a girl scout… while chuckling in my head that *I* wasn’t ever a girl scout. Last time I bought these, I think I ate both boxes without ever sharing with the kids!

p.s. I just realized that you commented on my blog last year. Somehow, I never noticed!

p.p.s I love the way you craft your posts!
