Surfin’ Around (WFWC21)

It’s Wednesday and that means it’s time for another Wild Flower Wednesday Challenge over at the Wild Flower Patch Blog.

Our challenge this week is to use the colors Black, Violet and Lime Green.

For my card I used Surfer Reed and colored him with Copics and cut him out with a Nestabilities Label. I wanted to keep this pretty clean and simple so I used a plain black card base and added the violet panel that I embossed using a Sizzix Tim Holtz embossing folder (Retro Circles) that I bordered again with black and lime. I wrapped this with a bit of twine and added a sentiment tag using a sentiment from The Greeting Farm.

Burtonesque Dolls – Burton Vampires

It’s Burtonesque Dolls time and this week our Burton challenge is to create a card/project that has the feel of a movie poster for a Tim Burton movie about vampires. Since there isn’t was as of yet (really??? can you imagine if he got a hold of Twilight… ) the sky is the limit.

We also have a spectacular prize for one of this weeks participants! Betty of Simply Betty stamps is sponsoring this week with her new Vampy Vampires line (available June 30!!) and one lucky winner will win all six digital stamps in the release!

Now on to my project… I have to confess that I found this particular challenge to be… well… er, challenging. I couldn’t quite focus what I wanted to do the way I wanted to do it not to mention I couldn’t glue straight to save my life. And as I finished I noticed it looked an awful lot like my tag from last week… GRRRRR. I’m really drawn to my Tim Holtz stamps and inks when I work on these Burton challenges… now I just need to gravitate to some new colors and embellishments, lol. I hope the challenge comes across in the card. I was going for more subtlety in this one.

For my card I used The Countess digi from Simply Betty and colored her with Copics.

I used a bunch of stamps from the Tim Holtz Bitty Grunge stamp set to create the background paper. I used a coordination Sissix embossing folder to create the embossed background and I sponged everything in site with Pumice Stone and Black Soot Distress Ink. I cut out a frame using the Nestablities Classic fram and I added a bit of Rock Candy Distress Stickles to the frame. I had a bit of trouble with the tip of the Stickles being too open and it either globbed out a didn’t come out at all. :( so that’s a bit of a mess. I added a bit more sparkle with some rhinestone swirls.
