WFWC16 – Monochromatic

It’s Wednesday and that means it’s Wild Flower Wednesday time again! And this Wednesday I’ve added a couple of other challenges to the mix also… in addition to WFWC I’ve got the Diedrich Dare (sparkle), Flutterby Wednesday (butterfly, angel or fairy) and Mercy’s Tuesday Sketch Challenge (sketch).

Our WFWC today is to make a monochromatic card. For my card I used Angel Ivy to make an all white Christmas card. I’m thinking if I start now and shoot for one card a week I might have enough by Christmas, lol.

I’ve had Ivy colored for quite a while now and it’s interesting to see when I look at this now that my coloring style has changed a lot in the 4 months since I colored this. I still like it but it’s different, lol. Do you notice that happening to your cards?

A White Christmas Angel

I used a snowflake Cuttlebug embossing folder to emboss the background and then I went over the embossing with a Sakura Stardust pen. I punched the border with a new Martha Stewart edge punch and added a bow and some flower punched from a EK flower punch.

There’s lots of sparkle all over the card… I went a little nuts with it, lol.

And here’s a closer look at Ivy.

If you’d like to participate with us this week all you need to do is create a Monochromatic card and post a direct link to it in InLinkz over a the Wild Flower Patch blog! You have until June 1 at midnight CST to throw your hat in the ring to win some free digis or templates!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday!!!

1.5 days until school is out!!! YEEEHAAAWWW!!!!

Santa Claus Dare style

This week I’ve got a bunch of special Christmas cards on deck to send out. First up is the card for Ben’s babysitter. We have been so blessed to find a sitter that always goes way above and beyond anything I would have ever expected. So I put together this special card just for her.

I started out with this amazing image from Mo’s Digital Pencil called And I Want A… that I colored with Copics. Now I’m not gonna lie, that sucker took me a while. There are so many wonderful details in the image that I think I spent around 2 hours coloring it since it was my first run through with it.

I wanted to keep the card as simple as possible so the image could be the star so when I saw this week’s Diedrich Dare sketch it was perfect! I did end up modifying it just a tad but it was definitely my inspiration for this layout.

Here’s Jack’s sketch:

When I was picking out paper I went straight to the new pack of My Mind’s Eye Christmas paper I had laying around and found this gorgeous background dp. I love that it’s very subtle and works great with the focal image.

I layered it all up, added just a bit of ribbon and some tiny Kaiser pearls and it was done. Oops, I also sponged the edges of everything with Brushed Courderoy Distress Ink.

And here’s a detail of Santa:
