Happy Birthday Mom!!

Mom, I don’t know what we’d do without you. Whenever I’m in a pinch you are always there to help out and you can’t possibly know how much I appreciate it. I hope you are having a fantastic day. :D

Now, stop looking at the computer because this is our card and I don’t want you to see it yet. ;)

cakebirthday

This is mom’s birthday card. For this I used PTI cardstock and stamped the pink with versamark and the yellow with Memento desert sand ink using some Inkadinkadoo acrylic swirl stamps. The birthday cake is colored with Copics, it bled a lot on the PTI rustic white so it’a little wonky looking. But I really enjoyed stamping my own paper for this, it was fun and turned out a lot better than I anticipated. :D

Card Details:

Stamps: Inkadinkadoo, Recollecitons, Hampton Arts
Ink: Versamark, Memento Rich Cocoa and Dessert Sand, Distress Ink Walnut Stain
Paper: Papertrey Ink
Accessories: MS Lattice Punch, Copic Markers

Stamp Happens Shimmerz Review

Stamp SistahsAs a member of the Stamp Sistahs design team Tonya asked us to do a review of some of the products in her store, StampHappens. The first products up to bat are Shimmerz and Blingz.

I received Shimmerz Celery and it took me a bit to figure out what I was going to do with it. But as it always does ispiration finally hit when I bought these lovely stamps from Inkadinkadoo.

Shimmerz Butterfly

You can see here that I used the Shimmerz to paint in the designs on the butterfly. I really like the way it turned out.

I do think that Shimmerz take a little bit of patience to get comfortable with. At first I wanted to paint them on too thin and the color wasn’t laying down smooth. Then I added to much and I had a puddle so I had to find a happy medium but once I did it turned out exactly like I expected.

I do have a few tips. Well one at least. If you happen to apply to much you can easily remove it by drying your paint brush with a paper towel and then gently dab at it with the brush. The brush will soak the Shimmerz up like a sponge and you can use the Shimmerz you picked up to paint another area. Also be careful not to rewet a painted area… it tends to get a little gloppy when you do that.

Overall I really liked the Shimmerz and I really liked this color. It went perfectly with the Pink Bazzill Bling that I used for the base of the card.

Here’s the rest of the card:
