Artful INKables collab part 2

I have definitely been bitten by the stamping bug! Today is day four of the Artful INKables collaboration party over at Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge. It’s definitely not to late to participate or just get registered to win some fun stamps. Details can be found over yonder on the blog. :D

Today one of my cards is being featured! WooHoo!

I’m still pretty new to this stamping business and I’ve been having a blast exploring some new ideas, media, and just generally playing.

My card today features stamps from both the Into the Moonlight set and from the Fictionally Inspired set.

I rather sheepishly have to admit that I got a little cheeky with this card. :D When I saw this puppy inspired paper I just couldn’t resist because I KNEW I had the paw stamp and the Love Bites stamp just waiting to be used at home.

I went a little layer crazy with this one. I started off with three colors of textured card stock in cream, medium brown and a russet brown because they not only matched the printed paper so well but because brown just fits anything related to Jacob. After getting the base layered up the way I wanted I added the fun puppy phrase paper and the dog bone paper to throw just a small jab at all the “dog” references in the books when talking about the pack. Then to finish of the card I added a couple of paw prints from the Into the Moonlight stamp set using StazOn Ink in Timber Brown and the Love Bites stamp from the Fictionally Inspired stamp set using Versamark. We all know love does bite for Jacob in so many literal and figurative ways in all the books… poor guy can not get a break. So… after distressing the small square I ran the edges around the Timber Brown to add just a bit of contrast. And it’s done.

I have to thank Jacquie, Donna, Alison and Stephanie for all their tips on distressing paper. Your help was indespensible!!

Now go leave a comment over on the TTIC blog so you can win some stamps!!

ttic 29 – Celebrate your BFF

Twilight Tuesday Inspiration ChallengeThis weeks topic was chosen by the lovely and super talented Tonya of StampHappens.com. Tonya is not only our fearless leader but she is a VERY talented stamp artist. Be sure to make a special stop by her blog to see her creation this week.

For our challenge this week Tonya wants us to focus on our BFF’s or on Jake and Bella’s unique friendship. She said:

Craft Challenge: Make a project celebrating your best friend. Or Jake and Bella’s friendship.

Comment Challenge: Do you have a best friend whom you love passionately (in a friendship kind of way)? What makes your friendship so special?

On to my project this week. This week I branched out a bit and went a new direction. Something I’ve not done for any of the challenges so far… CARDS!! I know!! You are shocked. Me too!! And I loved doing it. It’s so addictive. I stuck with some simple stamped designs and some fun paper.

This card set is for my friend Rose. We’ve been friends since about the second week of college. She was my roommate’s friends roommate. In that freshman year struggle to make friends we frequently ran into each other and really hit it off. Eventually we ended up moving in together and were roommates on and off all through college and even after college… well until she ditched me for more important things like moving to PA and getting married. Details, details.

Right now she lives in about 8 hours away and even though it’s a long way we still manage to keep in touch. She’s been with me through just about everything. She was my matron of honor, she was who I called when Ben was born, when Dad died and just about any other time the world crashes on me. She’s also who I call/text/email when I need a good giggle or a little girl talk.

So Rose this card set is for you.

I started out going one direction with the birds and the tree but then I saw the fun word stamps and I decided I would to sort of a mixed set. The paper pack is from Michael’s as are the stamps. I used the Martha Stewart border punch that Stephanie told me about (which I LOVE) and good old colored pencils to distress the edges and color the tree/birds.
