WFWC37 – All Twined Up

Hey everyone! I have two posts today. I hope you’ll scroll down to see my tutorial for Whatcha Toot’in About Wednesday at Club Anya. :D

My card today for The Wild Flower Patch is for WFWC37… All Twined Up. That’s right it’s time to pull out the twine and get to making a card. I LOVE twine. It might be my all time favorite embellishment on a card. It’s about asĀ versatileĀ as they come and I just love the look of it.

For my card today I used Poppy Butterfly Fairy and colored her with Copics. She was partially colored before I started this card so I don’t have the colors written down but I’m going to give it a guess at the end of the post.

After I colored her I used a Versamark Marker to color over her wings and embossed it with Stampendous Stardust embossing powder to give it some shine (this works great on digis as Stickles smear the printer in when I use it on digis). Then I used the cut out technique to partially cut her out of the die and then I sponged the outside with Broken Glass (it came out darker than I wanted as my sponge dauber had some stubborn Faded Denim on it that mixed in) and Walnut Stain TH Distress Ink.

I used this week’s Mercy Tuesday Sketch Challenge (MTSC96) for my layout and it looks a bit like I cased Mercy’s card but I really really didn’t. We just had similar thoughts on the sketch, lol. I’m also entering this in this week’s Flutter by Wednesday Challenge… it’s an open challenge this week. :D

The papers I used are from October Afternoon’s Fly a Kite 8×8 stack and from Basic Grey’s basic kraft 12×12 pack.

If you’d like to participate this week for the chance to win THREE free Wild Flower Patch digis or templates head over to the Wild Flower Patch blog for more details. Be sure to check out the rest of my team mates creations this week!

Santa Gift Card Holder

Yesterday I started working on this card for as gift to a family member. I started with this wonderful Santa image from Mo’s Digital Pencil called And I Want A… and Mercy’s Tuesday Sketch Challenge Sketch 53 (MTSC53).

MTSC53

I used this image not to long ago on a card for our babysitter. I love how both of them turned out. This maybe me favorite Christmas image… well at least this year.

I used the gorgeous My Mind’s Eye paper The Merry Days of Christmas and Java Bazzill Cardstock (pretty much my favorite when it comes to brown cardstock).

I modified the sketch just a little and made the main panel square because I didn’t have a large enough circle die for this image.

Here’s a look at the inside:

(The colors are a little off on this… I’m without my Ott light right now so the pics seem to be a bit red.)

I needed to make the inside a gift card holder so I glued down the sentiment panel with the top open so I can slide the gift card right in.

Here’s a closer look at the details:

I embossed both sentiments (I’m getting better at it) and sponged everything with Walnut Distress Ink. And added two little taggie buttons and it’s done. :D And the main image is colored with Copics… a ton of Copics, lol.

I’m not sure if I’ll be posting again before Christmas, I’ve got a LOT of cooking and cleaning to do in the next day and a half so if I can’t get back to the computer I hope you have a fantastic holiday!!!
