Opening doors to new sketches!

Hey all! I hope you are having a FABULOUS weekend. Things are SUPER busy around here this week. I’ve got so much going on I’m not sure how we are going to fit it all in but it’s going to be a blast! We’ve got a fall festival, pecan picking, a Carrie Underwood concert, a Mavericks game (hockey not basketball), AND a Chief’s game to fit in this weekend! Not to mention I’ve got some brand new SUPER cute stamps that are just itching for some ink. :D

Now onto today’s happening! I’m bringing you two challenges this week all wrapped up in one card. I’ve got a bit of Oh, Alice Knock, Knock, Knocking on Wonderland’s door with Chapter 34 (CAN YOU BELIEVE we have done that many chapters!!!) and I’ve got Saturday Sketch 39 from Club Anya and Friends. Now let me just say that it was definitely a challenge to combine these two and I am SOOOO happy with the results. This one is up there on my favorite cards lists for sure.

Now here is our CA&F sketch:

And here’s my take on it:

And here’s the door for the Oh, Alice part of the challenge:

I hope you get a chance to check out these challenges this week and be sure to visit my fellow design team members! Have a GREAT weekend!

Chapter 30: Hey There, Nice Stems…

Just as Alice said this, she noticed that one of the trees had a door leading right into it. `That’s very curious!’ she thought. `But everything’s curious today. I think I may as well go in at once.’ And in she went.

Once more she found herself in the long hall, and close to the little glass table. `Now, I’ll manage better this time,’ she said to herself, and began by taking the little golden key, and unlocking the door that led into the garden.

Then she went to work nibbling at the mushroom (she had kept a piece of it in her pocked) till she was about a foot high: then she walked down the little passage: and THEN–she found herself at last in the beautiful garden, among the bright flower-beds and the cool fountains…”

Hello out there! It’s a lovely day here in Wonderland and we are celebrating the summer with a nature theme today! Well, TREES and FLOWERS and BIRDS to be more exact! We scored a GREAT sketch sponsored by PAGEMAPS today that is just perfect for today’s theme:

For my card I used some of my new Verve stamps from their most recent release called Great Friend. I stamped the layered flowers from this set on to Basic Grey Kioshi paper and cut the flowers out and popped them up on dimensionals and rolled the petals a bit to make them stand out. I add a bit of Walnut Stain Distress Ink to just about everything for a bit more of a vintage feel and to take a bit of the pastel edge off of everything. For the background I embossed some Bazzill cardstock using a Cuttlebug Swirls embossing folder. I finished it up with a bit of ribbon and a few Kaiser Rhinestones.
