Baby Ripple Blanket

Ripple baby blanket, Attic 24 patternHi everyone! I hope your Friday is off to a fabulous start. I’m dropping into share my latest crochet project. It’s been happily received by it’s new home so I thought I would share with you. 🙂

Ripple baby blanket, Attic 24 pattern

I’m using Lucy from Attic 24’s lovely ripple pattern again. (You can see my first project with that pattern here.) This time I decided to switch up my yarn and I used a 50% cotton 50% acrylic yarn, Cotton-ease by Lion Brand. Below is the breakdown of yarn that I used:

  • Stone – 3 skeins
  • Snow – 1 skein
  • Berry – 1 skein (this yarn color has been discontinued, sadface)
  • Seaspray – 3 skeins
  • Maize – 2 skeins

I initially ordered 3 skeins of all the colors so I have a fair amount left over to start a new project. I’m thinking maybe granny squares. 🙂

I have to say I really like this yarn. It was fairly inexpensive for a cotton/acrylic blend and it feels VERY sturdy and has great stitch definition. It does split fairly easily but does not fray. It’s also very warm once it’s worked up into a decent bit of fabric.

My initial chain was 142 stitches (10 repeats of the ripple and 2 chains for turning). The finished blanket is 68 rows and finished with a trim of white to even out the ripple edge, one round of half double crochet and one round of double crochet. I didn’t measure the finished size but if I had to guess I would say it was about 40″ x 40″. The blanket color pattern is as follows:

  • 3 rows of stone
  • 2 rows of maize
  • 5 rows of seaspray
  • 1 row of snow
  • 2 rows of berry
  • 3 rows of stone
  • 2 rows of seaspray
  • 5 rows of maize
  • 1 row of snow
  • 2 rows of berry
  • Repeat this 1.5 times finishing on after the middle row of stone.

Now it’s time to get started on my next project! I’ve got another ripple in mind using some fantastic Cascade 220 yarn my mother in law bought me for Christmas last year and possibly a waffle blanket using a bit of KnitPicks Comfy Worsted yarn.
