Deconstructed Sketch No. 155

Deconstructed Sketch No. 155

Sketch Guidelines:

Are you ready for Deconstructed Sketch 155? I hope you like it! Here’s the scoop on what you need to do:

1. Use the sketch up top to make a project, any kind you like using any image you like. Use the sketch to inspire your own creativity. Feel free to substitute shapes for what you have available and mount tags and circles to a card base if you’d prefer.

2. Post it somewhere on the internet (your blog, SCS, Flickr, etc). Use keyword DS155 if you post to an online gallery like Splitcoaststampers.

3. Link back here to Inlinkz at the bottom of the post so we can see your project. :)

4. There is no time limit to enter this week so please join us if you can!

For my card I pulled out Be Blessed from Verve and got to work. The first think I did was a little letterpress embossing on the kraft background. If you haven’t done this before it’s WAY easy and I love how it turned out.

Faux Letterpress How To: To do this you ink up one side of your embossing folder, in this case I inked the side that had the largest spaces popped up. You can use a brayer to do this but I just used ink straight from the ink pad, in this case I used Memento Dessert Sand. Next just align your cardstock to the embossing folder on the uninked side, carefully fold it closed being sure not to move the cardstock and run it through your die cut machine. Voila, the depressed areas were inked slightly darker than the raised areas. I chose to keep the difference pretty subtle but you could experiment with different inks. I think next time I’m going to try a white ink on kraft and see how that turns out. 🙂

The rest is pretty straight forward. I die cut the flower with the Pointed Petals Die from Verve that coordinates with Be Blessed and then I die cut the leaves using the Sprightly Sprigs Die Set. I sponged everything with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and did a bit of stitching with my sewing machine and that was it!
