This Week’s Sketch

Well with that intro I should let you see what the damage is…

My Sample

And here’s what I put together for this week.

This week I did something that I don’t get to do enough and that is… JUST STAMP! I love to create cards that are just inks and paper that really stretch my design skills and this just happens to be one of those. I started off with MFT’s First Place Ribbon stamp and Dienamics set that I picked up at Summer CHA in Chicago. The minute I saw it I knew I had to have it because it was perfect for school and for home.

I started off with a 5″ x 5″ card base and layered up the backgrounds in My Mind’s Eye Lime Twist Out of the Blue paper. Next up I began cutting the circles using the dies that came with the stamp set and my Spellbinders Classic Circles Large and Scalloped Circles Larges dies. I ended up with 5 circles total. After everything was cut I used the clear stamps from the set to stamp the middle circle… I was totally surprised that I was able to do it without mis-aligning it the first try. I layer all the circles with foam tape between the 2nd and 3rd layer and underneath the bottom layer. I used the banners/tails in the die set to make the Happy Birthday banner by cutting the largest one out of designer paper and the smaller one from white. I stamped the sentiment on the white and then folded the ends in to pop it up and give it that traditional banner look.

Here’s a closer look at the layers:

Now let’s see what the design team made:

Didn’t they do a fabulous job? I was afraid they were gonna start throwing ink pads at me but I secretly think they LIKE it when I give them tricky sketches… but the question is… do YOU?!!?

The Deconstructed Guidelines:

If you’d like to join us this week all you need to do is create a project using the above sketch as inspiration. There are no specific image requirements for this challenge.
