Deconstructed Sketch No. 187

Deconstructed Sketch No. 187

Morning! Are you ready for Deconstructed Sketch 187? I hope you like it! Here’s the scoop on what you need to do:

1. Use the sketch up top to make a project, any kind you like using any image you like. Use the sketch to inspire your own creativity. Feel free to substitute shapes for what you have available and mount tags and circles to a card base if you’d prefer.

2. Post it somewhere on the internet (your personal blog, SplitcoaststampersFlickrPinterest, etc). Use keyword DS187.

3. Link back here to Inlinkz at the bottom of the post.

Here’s my take on the sketch.

Will You Be My Valentine by Jen Shults, handmade card

For my card I started with Paper Hugs from Simon Says Stamp and let the stamp set take the lead a little on how the card went. I made a Grout Gray (MFT) cardbase and then layered it with Sugar Cube (TE) and Poppy Seed (TE) cardstock. I then took a piece of Lolipop cardstock (TE) and stamped it with the XOXO stamp from Paper Hugs (SSS). I cut a small strip of Strawberry Milkshake (TE) and sponged it with Angel Pink (Memento) ink through a diagonal stripes stencil (SSS). I used the Banner Stacklets 2 dies (TE) to cut the small banner out of Poppy Seed cardstock (TE). The hearts were cut using Heart Stacklets dies (TE) and one was crimped with a paper crimper (Fiskars). I die cut the circle using the Pierced Circle STAX (MFT) and then stamped the sentiment  with Frost White (Colorbox) ink and embossed it with Detail White Embossing Powder (Ranger).  I sponged on a bit more Angel Pink (Memento) ink in the center of the sentiment to add more focus to the sentiment. I then grabbed a gel pen and doodled the hearts and arrow on the banner and that was that!
