Limeades for Learning

authorJen September 2, 2010

I wanted to pop on here real quick today and share a work project that I’m working on. I don’t very often share much about work because I like to keep this blog about my crafting but right now I’m working on a project for Sonic’s Limeades For Learning and I wanted to spread the word.

Limeades For Learning is a project Sonic created to help get school supplies, project materials and technology directly into the hands of students and teachers. Their focus is on funding LOTS of smaller projects to directly impact student learning.

I recently created a project for my classroom through LFL that would fund 3 Flip Cams for student led demonstrations in class. I want the kids to share knowledge with each other by creating their own demonstrations on how to use materials and create.

To get these projects funded the only thing required is a vote. There is no purchase necessary and you can vote each day. The most popular projects each week get funded.

My purpose for sharing this is not to get you to vote for mine, though I’d love that. My purpose is to get you to get our there and vote for any of them. Find a project in your area, at your child’s school and vote for it EACH DAY or vote for mine. Either way… help a classroom, help a teacher, help a student… IT’S FREE!

If you want to do more, post about Limeades for Learning on your Facebook, on your Twitter, on your Blog. Every vote counts and the more votes received the more Sonic will donate.

My card today…

I used this cute little kitty and colored him with Prismacolor Pencils. I didn’t use much of any Odorless Mineral Spirits on this. In the past I used it a lot but this time I just didn’t for some reason. I colored him to loosely match this Basic Grey Oliver paper and I tried to keep the design nice and clean. The inside is stamped with a “Thank You”.

Here’s a closer look at my coloring:

Be sure to stop by the TGF Blog if you are JUST beginning the hop and make it all the way to the CLUB ANYA & FRIENDS blog through the end to see the endless possibilities with this month’s cute new additions to the Farm and to leave your comments along the way…there are some SWEET prizes to be had today!

Wild Flower Wednesday Fall Colors

authorJen

It’s Wild Flower Wednesday time again and that means it’s time for a new challenge! This week our challenge is fall colors.

A quick announcement! Be sure to stop by the Wild Flower Patch store today. Annie has released some GORGEOUS new templates that you much check out. There is a new tall Gable box and the cutest cupcake stand along with a fun shape cut files. You’re going to love those!

For my card I used Tom the Turkey and colored him with Copics. I used some gorgeous 7Gypsies and October Afternoon designer papers along with a Basic Grey sentiment to make this card. I’m being a bit cheeky with that sentiment. I have a friend who’s birthday is very near and occasionally on Thanksgiving day so this card and when I was looking for a sentiment I thought this one was perfect!

I’m really working on making some cleaner simpler cards these days. I tend to fuss and fuss and fuss and take forever to make cards to I’m trying to expand my horizons a bit and not go so nuts with layout extras. I’m not sure if it’s a good fit for me yet or not but I don like how this came out with the sponged circles and the one punched corner.

Here’s a closer look at the coloring:

New SWEET Greeting Farm Digi’s

authorJen August 30, 2010

TGF-Fox-Jen2

Have you seen all the new Critter Crew digi’s coming your way September first over at The Greeting Farm? They are all just adorable!

Today I am previewing Huey Birdhouse by Marina Neira. Huey is getting the birdhouse all ready for his friends. Isn’t he too cute? I colored Huey with Copics to match the Cosmo Cricket Nutmeg designer paper from last season. This is paper I haven’t really used all that much but it really fit the outdoorsey feel of Huey.

After coloring him I cut him out using a Nestabilities Labels Two… this is a die I go to a lot for square images. I traced around the outside of the die and hand cut the brown to make a small border as this was the largest die in the set. I sponge the inside of the die with Old Paper distress ink to highlight the embossing just a bit.

To create the strip panel I punched a piece of rust colored Bazzill cardstock with a Martha Stewart Botanical Scallop edge punch and an EK Success zig-zag punch. For one last finishing detail I added the corners using an EK Victorian Photo corner punch.

There are lots of fun things going on over at the Greeting Farm Blog AND the Club Anya and Friends Blog today so be sure to stop by each… I heard there might be a blog hop with a very nice give away! AND be sure to give a shout to all the Critter Crew girls who are previewing a new image today!

Critter Crew:

Have a great Monday!

Chapter 28: Child of Pure Unclouded Brow

authorJen August 28, 2010

CHAPTER 28: (taken from “Child of the Pure Unclouded Brow: preface to “Through the Looking Glass”

Child of the pure unclouded brow
And dreaming eyes of wonder!
Though time be fleet, and I and thou
Are half a life asunder,
Thy loving smile will surely hail
The love-gift of a fairy-tale.

I have not seen thy sunny face,
Nor heard thy silver laughter;
No thought of me shall find a place
In thy young life’s hereafter -
Enough that now thou wilt not fail
To listen to my fairy-tale.

OAC-Girlie-Jen

For my card this week I used Sunny Bumbles from  Paper Pretties and colored it with Copics on PTI cardstock. I colored it to match (sort of) this really cute Olivia paper from Basic Grey. I wanted to keep the layout pretty simple so I just layered the image up and added a bit of ribbon and a few Kaiser pearls to finish of the card.

Here’s a close up of the coloring.

I hope you guys enjoyed this week’s challenge and get a chance to play along with us! We’d love to have you stop by. You can get all the details at the Oh, Alice Challenge Blog!
