SJC38: Hello Summer

Hi everyone! I hope you are having a great Thursday. 🙂 Today I have a new card for you using Taylored Expressions Share Joy Challenge sketch and inspiration photo as well as the gorgeous new Taylored Expressions Inks!!

Hello Summer by Jen Shults, stamps and dies from Taylored Expressions

I used both the sketch and the inspiration photo for my card. I was really inspired by the warm colors of the sun set, the almost silhouette for the flip flops and of course the flip flops themselves. This card is being send to a friend just to say hi!

I started my card with an A2 sized cardbase of Sugar Cube cardstock. I cut a piece of Sugar Cube down to 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ and embossed it with the Lots of Stars Embossing Folder. Next I sponged a 4.25″ x 5.5″ piece of Sugar Cube with Lollipop, Candy Corn and Lemon Meringue Taylored Expressions Ink. This was my first time blending ink colors together with this new ink and WOWSA am I happy with the results. This ink has some magic smoothing abilities as it dries and as you can see it stays SUPER bright.

After sponging the ink onto the cardstock I let it dry completely and then die cut it with one of the Stitched Rectangle Stacklets. I cut the same size Stacklet out of Oreo card stock and attached the two together with foam tape, offsetting the Oreo piece a little. Next I die cut the flip flops from Lolipop and Candy Corn cardstock using Flip Flop Garland dies. I assembled these and attached them to a circle of Lemon Meringue cardstock die cut with Stitched Circle Stacklets. To make the sentiment I used to words from Little Bits of Summer stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder then die cut with Banner Stacklets 4 (my new FAVORITE!!). The very last thing I did to the was add some Tiny Twinkles rhinestones to the flip flops. I debated this for a while because it was super tedious but I’m glad I did it! Everything was attached with foam tape (for the most part) and it was all done! I did play around with adding enamel dots or sequins but decided against it. 🙂
