Thanks Coach
It’s the end of another softball season so that means it’s time to make a few thank you cards for Evey’s coaches. The girls had a great run this year. They finished second in the league and second in the tournament. This year I learned more about the politics of rec/comp softball than I wished to and part of me wishes I could erase it from my mind and go back to being blissfully ignorant of all the seriously crazy adults in charge of kids sports. The amount of craziness is astonishing. Eeek! Alright on to those cards…
For these cards I pulled out some of my favorite dies from Taylored Expressions and set to work. I knew I wanted to use the Sports Balls dies and something with stars so I just happened to find the Seeing Stars dies when I was hunting for the Sports Balls dies and they were perfect. The thanks die happens to be a freebie that was included with a purchase from Taylored Expressions but any thanks die would work if you don’t have this one. Behind the thanks I die cut a black banner using Banner Stackets 1.
For the background I have to admit I made a big giant mess with Color Burst Powders. I started by spritzing water on my silicone craft mat and then lightly sprinkled the Lemon Yellow Color Burst powders on top. I let them hang out for a minute or so and then just smooshed the paper right on top of it. Depending on how much water you used you get more of droplet effect or more of a full coverage effect. Super simple! I can see this working really well with more than one color too.
***Big IMPORTANT Tip*** Don’t wear white when using Color Burst Powders or any powdered watercolors!!! I’m sure you can figure out why. 🙂
These were super simple to assembly line make. I made all of the background first, then cut all the dies then put them together. The whole thing for all three cards took less than an hour!
