Watercolor Gradient Die Cutting

Watercolor Gradient Die Cutting

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing a fun clean and simple card I made this past weekend. When I started this card I knew I wanted to do something fun with watercolor and I wanted to do something fun with a large cover plate die. So why not combine them both?

To start my card I watercolored a large section of a piece of watercolor paper gently fading from coral to yellow using Gansai Tambi watercolors from Zig. To start this I brushed a fairly generous amount of water on my watercolor paper using a 1″ wide flat Grumbacher watercolor brush. Then I picked up a bit of the coral color and brushed on 2 strips of color then I dipped my brush in clean water, tapped it off on the side of my water container lightly blotted on a paper towel and brushed on 2 more strokes. I continued this same process until I the brush strokes ran clear. I did this same technique with the yellow fading it up into the coral. After this dried I die cut it with the Cover Plate Mighty Bloom Die from PTI. After die cutting it I kept the negative so I could arrange the petals back in their original spots with foam tape. I was very carful to make sure each petal went back in it’s original spot. To finish I die cut one of the Many Thanks Die-namics from MFT out of black cardstock and attached it in the center with foam tape!
