Wild Flower Wednesday 22 and Burtonesque Dolls 10

Wild Flower Wednesday

Hi everyone! It’s Wednesday and that means it’s Wild Flower Wednesday time and I’m catching up with my missed challenge yesterday with Burtonesque Dolls… so it’s a two for one today!

Our Wild Flower Wednesday challenge this week is to get Grungy! I have to admit I picked this challenge because lately I have just been really loving all things messy and grungy when making cards. I recently picked up some Tim Holtz Bitty Grunge stamps and I have been using them on everything so why not go with it. 😀

Sweet Wishes Grunge Card

For my card I used Flower Fairy Daisy and colored her with Copics to match some Basic Grey Porcelain papers. To grunge it up I used the Inkssentials foam blending tool to apply Frayed Burlap and Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink to the edges of the designer paper. I then stamped the water splotch Bitty Grunge stamp using Pumice Stone in random spots on the designer paper. Next I took the square mess Bitty Grunge stamp and stamped it with Brushed Corduroy just along the edges of the designer paper. Once it was all stamped up I used a pair of scissors to roughen up the edges and then I added a bit more Brushed Corduroy ink to the paper so the white edges were dirtied up a bit.

Now for Daisy I added Rock Candy Distress Stickles to her wings (LOVE THOSE) and cut her out. For her oval background I cut out the oval on white cardstock using a Nesties Classic Oval and then I sponged it while still in the die with Brushed Corduroy and Frayed Burlap and then stamped the water splotch on top of that with Pumice Stone. I added a couple of Prima flowers that were also inked with Brushed Corduroy and then outlined in Rock Candy Stickles. The sentiment that isn’t showing to well says “Sweet Wishes” and was stamped with Brushed Corduroy.

The layout is based on Mercy’s Tuesday Sketch Challenge 81.

Burtonesque Dolls

Now on to my Burtonesque Dolls card!

This week our challenge was to create a card that shows off your favorite Burton Boy and Stamp It Crazy is sponsoring us this week!

What's Brewing Card

I used Stamp It Crazy’s Hal87 for my focal image and stamped him with VersaFine Black ink and embossed him with clear embossing powder. I made the grey background paper by sponging some little images of skull heads on the background (also from Stamp It Crazy) with Pumice Stone Distress Ink. Then I used a few Bitty Grunge stamps to add some grungy details and sponged the edge of the paper. (This all faded a bit as it dried so it’s not showing up as well as it was.) Along the edges of the focal image I sponged the edges with Pumice Stone and then stamped the square mess Bitty Grunge stamp along the edge with Pumice Stone. The sentiment is from Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps and stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

Here’s a closer look at the embossing:
