Twilight Tuesday Farewell Bloghop

farewell

Well, it’s here. Today is my last post of Twilight Tuesday. I’m very sad. It’s almost as if the reality of it hasn’t quite sunk in as I type this, I mean we’ll still be doing this next week right? I’m not going to neglect all those Twilight Wild Sprouts am I? But alas, I think at least the first part of that is true. Today is the day. It’s been a really fun 2 years and I’m very sad to see it go. I’ve learned a lot, picked up a brand new hobby and met some incredibly kind and talented women and I’ll be forever grateful for that.

But today isn’t about being sad, it’s about going out in style so here we go with our farewell blog hop. If you are arriving from Jodi’s blog you are on the right track!

Our theme this week is from Rebecca.

Rebecca writes:

Our challenge theme????
“Love of books, the printed words on a page”
Since that is what brought us all together.

Creative Portion: Create a project that uses the printed text: a page from a magazine, book, dictionary, etc. within your project, as the background or focal point.

Comment Portion: I love to read the newspaper online but nothing beats a printed newspaper on Sunday mornings. And no matter how hard I try, I cannot abandon books (hardcover, softcover or paperback) to a digital reader. Are you totally digital or do you prefer good old fashioned printed page in your hands?

So here he is:

For my card I used the Wild Sprout Dressy Ed from the Greeting Farm (I love him!!) and I colored him with Copics. I used a lot of plain carstock from Bazzill and PTI and my printed text comes from a copy of The Three Musketeers I had from my high school days for no other reason than I didn’t feel guilty cutting it up because it was newish and not my favorite book (though definitely a favorite movie). I do have a bit of a funny story about that book… I went to my mom’s in search of an old book that I could use some pages out of for this project and mom was happy to help so she takes me down to the storage room and starts handing me books out of this old box of my Grandmother’s books… The Adventure’s of Huckleberry Finn….um no mom but thanks, Little Women… NO!! keep digging…. Gone with the Wind…. seriously? you have that…. and when she got to Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte I about died, wouldn’t that be the worst form of sacrilege to tear up an 80 year old copy of Bella’s favorite book for this challenge? Any way… thanks Mom for keeping The Three Musketeers and letting me dig though your basement and go put all those old books in some giant ziplock bags to keep them safe. 🙂

This pic shows the sentiment… it’s in a little pocket behind Edward and slides in and out. 😀

And the inside.

Comments… Rebecca asked if we still read paper books or if we’ve gone digital. I think I’m somewhere int he middle. I still really love my paper books but I can’t deny that I find myself reading more and more books on my iPhone just because it’s so handy and it’s always with me and if we end up with an iPad (and I know we will) I may be pushed over the edge into all digital. 😀

Well *sniff, sniff*, It’s time to move onto the next stop on the hop… but before you go I want to say a very heartfelt thank you to all the TTIC girls: Tonya, Donna, Margie, Jodi, Rebecca, Ali, Beth, Julie, Erica, Eve, Dani and Jacquie for letting me play along from the beginning when I wasn’t a card designer to now. Your friendship means the world to me and even though this is the end of the challenge I know this is not the end of our friendship. I have learned so much and experienced so much that I know I am changed forever by this chance to show a little love for sparkly vampires and werewolves.**Hugs**
