7 Days of Love Day 2 – You Make Me Smile

Hi Crafty Friends!

IMG_3713

This week my friend and fellow DT member Sankari Wegman and I decided to countdown to Valentine’s Day with 7 days of Love Cards! Each day this week we will be celebrating by posting a card all about love on our blogs! We also decided to each create a sketch and a color inspiration to use in case we need a little extra mojo ;)

7 Days of Love Inspiration:

Stop by our blogs each day for a fun little love surprise! <3

Jen’s LOVE filled Day 2:

For my card today I am going a little more subtle with the love message. 🙂 Valentine’s are for friends too you know, but you don’t want to scare them away with anything too over the top. 😉

I wanted to use Sankari’s awesome color palette for this week so I pulled out my watercolor paper again for this card and tried my hand at a Distress Watercolor background.

You Make Me Smile by Jen Shults, handmade card #7daysoflove

To start I created a cardbase using Poppy Seed Cardstock (TE) and then used Mowed Lawn, Peacock Feathers and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink to make the background. The blue tag is cut from Sprinkles cardstock (TE) and more Poppy Seed cardstock (TE). I glued them together offset just a bit and added the ribbon and twine. I stamped the tiny hearts from Love Notes (Verve) using Frost White (Colorbox) ink and then heat embossed it using White Detail Embossing Powder (Ranger). I die cut the Jotted Heart Die (Verve) out of Strawberry Milkshake cardstock (TE) and stamped and embossed a heart on it as well. I stamped the sentiment on Sugar Cube cardstock (TE) using Espresso Truffle ink (Memento) and die cut it using the Flag It Dies (Verve). I stamped the leaves from Dream Big (Verve) onto Granny Smith cardstock (TE) using Pistachio ink (Memento) and die cut them using the Dreamy Leaves dies (Verve). The paper flowers are both from Michael’s dollar spot area and are attached with Glossy Accents (Ranger). The clear dots are also from Michael’s and are attached with Glossy Accents (Ranger). To finish it all off I added some small dots to the background using a white gel pen.
