a beautiful fluttery day

it’s flutterby wednesday and i hope you all are having a great week so far. i have to say that my week has taken a creative turn for the better and i am soooo excited to share my card with you today. our challenge this week at flutterby wednesday is an open challenge to use a fairy, angel or butterfly somewhere in your project. we have a fantastic guest designer with us today!! amy young is joining us this week so please visit her and leave her some love! we also have a brand new wonderful dt member to introduce. cindy haffner is now joining the team and i know she’ll bring some amazing creations to the group!

on my card i used an image from paper shelter and colored it with copics. i’ve been giving those a turn again and i am noticing my coloring has changed a bit since before my prismacolor day but i think it’s a good thing.

i went a new direction on this card and i am so happy with how it turned out. you know how sometimes you just have to push yourself to try something new? jump up on to the next branch and hope it holds? well, that’s what i did last night with this card and i am so very happy i did. after cutting out the image with a nestabilites deckle rectangle die and sponged it with tumbled glass distress ink i tore some pieces of my mind’s eye stella and rose hazel paper and layered them together. i then distressed the edges with a tim holtz distress tool. next up came the fun part… random background stamping. the stamps i used are from stamping bella and tim holtz and i just layered them around the edges in vintage photo and antique linen distress inks. so far it’s pretty generic me but the next part took a bit of convincing on my part, lol. I started with a 01 prismacolor multiliner and i started doodling a border around the inside edge of the card. i love how this looks. it definitely going to be my solution to my sewing phobia. once i got started i kept adding little bits here and there. i doodled around the frame of the image and added a few butterflies here and there. i went back in with a white gelly roll pen and added a bit of white to make things pop up a little bit more. that was it. it was really a fast card… well the putting together was, coloring is never quick for me. 😉

here are a few detail pics:
