and now for something a bit different… crochet
I know this is pretty off topic for what I regularly blog about but I wanted to share a project I just completed that’s a bit different. I love making cards and it’s been my main hobby for the last 3, almost 4 years but this winter I went back to a craft that I’ve dabbled in a few time before only this time I really have stuck with it. 🙂 Crochet! I’ve made a few smaller projects over the winter – a few dishclothes and 3 scarves and a hat for Evey but at the same time I had a big project in the works… a throw blanket designed specifically for my 6’4″ husband.
We’ve owned many throw blankets over the years and his chief complaint with all of this is they are too short and never cover his feet. Well, I hope I’ve taken care of that, LOL. The blanket I made for him is made of 6 strips of 6 different colors that match our family room. I didn’t follow a pattern for this I just worked on practicing different stitches (mainly single, half double and double crochet) in the same sized strips. After I had the six strips made I single crocheted them together. If I were to do it again I probably would not have pieced them together, I would have crocheted them continuous but it worked out. 🙂 And I learned a lot. 🙂
Now I have two tasks… one is to figure out if this needs edging – the husband says NO! Leave it be. I’m not so sure. And the second task is to start one for myself because I REALLY want to keep this one for me. 🙂
