Baker’s Dozen Studio Challenge

I am so stoked about this new challenge. We are going to have so much fun with this and the challenges are so unique and FUN! So lets get started!

Taylored Expressions is introducing a new monthly challenge for the design team:  The Baker’s Dozen Studio Challenge.  This will be an opportunity for us to share what makes our stamping studios hum.  Each month we will have a fun, crafty question so we can share our favorites, some tips and tricks, stamping advice and more.

The question for July is:

You are stranded on a desert island. The good news is that you find a fabulous stamping hut well-stocked with papers, inks and other stamping supplies, however you only have the 5 stamp sets you brought with you in the luggage you managed to salvage. So tell us, what stamps sets did you bring and why?

Alright so, after much thinking and digging through my stash it took me a bit but I was able to narrow it down to 5 that I couldn’t live without. So starting off… Beary Special is by far and away my favorite TE stamp set. I just LOVE these little bears. They are so so expressive and cute and they remind me of my son who still carries around a little bear that looks just like this one, aptly named Barry, lol. The second stamp set I would take is Fruity Friends. It’s so versatile with such great sentiments and it’s perfect for masculine and feminine cards as well as kids… it’s definitely a keeper. The third set I’d take is Embrace Beauty. I have loved this stamp set forever and it’s so so beautiful and elegant. I’d have to take it. Next up… Make it Amazing. I can’t live without a nice butterfly set… enough said. And lastly I’d take Woodland Winter. I know it’s a desert island and it’s not likely to be winter but Christmas will still come around right? You have to be able to celebrate the holidays in style and I ADORE this cute little set!

Now for my card up above. I used Beary Special for my sample today because it’s my most favorite and I’ve only made one other card with it in the past. I stamped the cute little bear on Choice Snow White cardstock and colored him with Copics. Next I cut him out with a Rectangle Nestablities and sponged inside the die with Peeled Paint Distress Ink. The sentiment is stamped from the Beary Special set and I die cut it using a Spellbinders Oval and sponged it with Peeled Paint as well. Behind that I layered a circle die cut and the Layering Doily Small die. (LOVE how that turned out!) To finish it off I added a bow and a few die cuts from the Hears a Plenty die. I also sponged all the paper and ribbon with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. Oh! I almost forgot. The designer paper is My Mind’s Eye Indie Chic Citron.

Here’s a close up:

I used these Taylored Dies on my card:

Here’s a peek at the stamp sets I chose along with some previous projects using them. (I couldn’t find a picture of my older Beary Special card, rats!)
