Birthday wishes… clean and simple

Hi everyone! I wanted to pop in real quick and say hi. I’m sorry I’ve been away so much this week. I’ve been laid up with a bit of a stomach virus that hasn’t been very friendly. 🙁 I’m hoping tonight I’m actually able to get some card making done.

I wanted to pop in today and share a card that I made at my husband’s request. A friend of his is having a birthday this weekend and it’s a big one so he wanted me to make him a card. Well I have to say this was a bit of an intimidating task because the friend in question is a bit of a creative genius and I knew Chris tends to like a different style than I normally make… so it as a challenge indeed but a good one I think because it caused me to open some stamps I haven’t used yet AND it pushed me to do something a bit different.

So the very first thing I knew about this card was that I wasn’t going to use embellishments… Chris is not a fan of them at all so those were off the table. Second thing I knew this needed to be a bit understated so I pulled out my pad of My Mind’s Eye printed craftstock that I just LOVE but haven’t used all that much of and started pulling out sheets. I paired them up with some chocolate cardstock and some Walnut Stain Distress Ink and got to work. The balloons are from Verve and the sentiment is from Stampendous and the die cuts are Nestabilities Labels Two. I pretty well sponged the heck out of everything and that’s about all. 😀 What do you think? I really like the results. 😀

I hope to be back Friday with that hair coloring tutorial I promised you for this week. 😀
