Candy Cane Lane
Happy Tuesday! I hope you are doing well. It’s the last Tuesday of the month and you know what that means! It’s time for a new Taylored Expressions card kit and this week we have a little Christmas in July going on! TE is releasing the new Candy Cane Lane Cardmaking Kit TODAY and it’s so adorable! It’s built for quick and easy Christmas cards but you can also kick them up a little!
The Candy Cane Lane Cardmaking Kit retails for $55, comes in a zippered pouch with a custom sticker, and includes:
- Peppermint Kisses Stencil & Die Combo set
- Clearly Crafty Seasonal Sentiments stamp set
- Seasonal Sentiments die collection
- a small pot of Bits & Pieces – Peppermints
- A2 Envelope Pack (6 envelopes, 2 each of red glitter, silver glitter, and Sugar Cube)
- Envelope Seal Pack (6 seals)
Limited quantity is available.
Most items are not available to purchase individually. You can purchase additional envelope seals (pack of 10), Red Peppermint Scented embossing powder, the Sweet Stripes Cutting Plate die, and Bits & Pieces – Peppermints separately from the kit.
I made two cards with this kit – one that’s a little cleaner and simpler and one that’s not. The first card features the Sweet Stripes Cutting Plate, which is an add-on for the kit, along with all the elements in the kit. The steps for making this card are below:
- Create an A2 cardbase. Cut an A2 panel of Sugar Cube and ink blend with Cookie Monster ink from the bottom until it fades out.
- Die cut the Sweet Stripes Cutting Plate from Sugar Cube and Watermelon cardstock, keeping the pieces of Watermelon cardstock in place as best you can. Glue the Sugar Cube frame to the inked background. Carefully inlay the red stripes (this is much easier if you did not pop them out of the die cut until you were ready to place them).
- Stencil the Peppermint Kisses stencil on Sugar Cube with Watermelon ink. Die cut. Carefully ink with Versamark and heat emboss with Diamond Embossing Powder. Repeat two more times. Die cut two more candy canes from Sugar Cube and glue all three together for thickness.
- Die cut the holly leaves and berries from Watermelon and Lime Zest cardstock. Adhere to the candy cane.
- Prep a piece of Sugar Cube for embossing by using the Powder Tool to remove static. Stamp Happy Holidays on Sugar Cube Cardstock with Versamark ink. Add red peppermint embossing powder and heat set. Die cut with the coordinating die.
- Assemble as shown. Add a few Bits & Pieces – Peppermints as an accent.

My second card is a little bit more involved but not really that complicated – the hardest part was getting everything laid out. The steps for making this card are below:
- Create an A2 cardbase. Cut an A2 panel of Sugar Cube. Ink blend with Lollipop from the bottom up. Splatter with Copic White ink and Oreo Liquid Watercolor. Set aside to dry.
- Stencil Peppermint Kisses Stencil and Die Combo in Cookie Monster, Lollipop, and Lime Zest – die cut each. (You may need one more of one of the colors at the end depending on your spacing.)
- Die cut the holly leaves and berries from Lime Zest and Watermelon cardstock – you need enough for 4-5 clusters of holly. Ink blend Peapod on the centers of the holly leaves. Set aside.
- Stamp the sentiment on Oreo cardstock with Versamark. Heat emboss with white embossing powder.
- To assemble lay the candy canes out in a crisscross pattern, starting at the top and working down. Once you like the placement, adhere. Trim any edges that hang off. Arrange and attach the holly clusters. Add a few Bits & Pieces – Peppermint.
- Adhere the sentiment with foam tape and attach it to the card base. Add white gel pen accents to the holly berries.
