Eat, Drink & Be Scary!!
It’s time for Halloween goodies! YAY!! These are my absolute favorite type of projects to make. I think it’s because I can go all out and it’s expected, lol. Taylored Expressions is releasing a whole bunch of new Halloween goodies today that you must check out! I have three projects to share with you.
First up is a fun pumpkin shaker card using Snack-O-Lantern Shaker. As soon as I saw this cute pumpkin I had a plan for what I wanted to do – it had to glow!! Scroll down to see the end result!!
To make this card:
`1. Create the background: Cut an A2 cardbase from Oreo cardstock. Then cut an A2 piece of Sugar Cube cardstock. Use the Bokeh stencils and blender brushes with Candy Corn, Lemon Meringue and Earl Grey ink to lightly create the bokeh effect. After removing the stencil add a touch more ink over the background, matching the colors where they are to complete the look. Die cut with Stitched Rectangle Stacklets.
2. Cut the pumpkin pieces: Die cut the Pumpkin Shaker with the mouth in place from Pumpkin cardstock. Die cut the full pumpkin (no mouth) again from Pineapple and acetate. Die cut the eyes and nose from Pineapple and the stem from Peapod cardstock. Using the Versamark pad press Versamark ink directly onto the Pineapple pumpkin, covering all of the pumpkin with ink. Apply Glow in the Dark embossing powder (tip – if you gently stir your embossing powder it helps distribute the glow powder). Repeat until you have a thick layer of glow embossing powder. (I topped with a final layer of Diamond embossing powder for a clear protective layer.)
3. Assemble the pumpkin: Adhere the acetate to the orange pumpkin with strong liquid adhesive or strong clear tape adhesive. Use TE Foam Sticky Strips to outline the opening of the pumpkin with foam strips (this foam bent just fine. I cut medium-sized pieces to aid in the curve. Leave the backing tape on for now. Dust the edges of the tape with a powder tool to remove some of the adhesive off the edges. Add a small amount of shaker filling to the middle of the acetate. Carefully add the Pineapple pumpkin with glow powder – glow side to the shaker filling.
4. Assemble the card: Stamp the Simple Strips – Halloween stamp on Oreo cardstock with Versamark and emboss with white embossing powder. Die cut with the Simple Strips die. Assemble the card as shown, using foam tape behind the sentiment. Add a vew Bits and Pieces – Halloween Stars & Sparkles to the background.
Look at that glow!!

Next up is another shaker card using Eat, Drink, and Be Scary Cling & Clear Combo along with Mini Slim Infinity Shaker Panels. This card was so fast to put together and a so fun!
To make this card:
- Create a mini slim card base from Oreo cardstock or use a pre-cut Mini Slim Top-Fold Card in Oreo. On a piece of Sugar Cube cardstock ink blend Candy Corn ink from bottom to top, fading as you go. Lightly heat set. On another piece of Sugar Cube stencil the diagonal stripes stencil from Stencil Strips – Holiday in Oreo ink.
- Apply a powder tool to the Candy Corn background. Use a MISTI to stamp the sentiment using VersaFine Clair – Nocturne ink. Cover with clear embossing powder and heat set. Cut to 1/4″ smaller than a mini slim cardbase.
- Die cut the Ghost Gang Die & Clear Stamp Combo from Sugar Cube. Blend a little Jelly Donut and Lime Zest ink on the ghosts. Stamp the desired faces.
- Assemble the background panel by a 3/8″ strip of the Oreo striped cardstock, the ghosts and a few Bits & Pieces Candy Corn (glued down).
- To assemble the shaker, pre-fold the shaker panel carefully. Use a bone folder to crease the folds. To help aid in keeping the shaker flat I trimmed a bit of the flaps on the back at the corners so they don’t overlap when folded together. Apply strong tape adhesive to the flaps of the shaker (leave on the backing). Center the background panel in the middle of the acetate and remove the adhesive backing on three sides and close down those three sides (I left a short side open). Add the desired amount of filling in the side that is still open then remove the adhesive and close. Run a bone folder over the adhesive flaps to help everything stay closed.
- Add more strong adhesive to the back of the shaker and adhere to your cardbase.
