Father’s Day, Pets and a Little Hello
Hi everyone! Today I have three projects to share from you using new products from Taylored Expressions. All the new products are available now at Taylored Expressions.
The first card I made uses the new In the Treetops Edger stamp and In the Treetops die and Swinging By.
I used the On a Hinge die to make the swing move back and forth on the card. Taylor has a great video on how to use the On a Hinge die that you can find here.
I used Taylor’s fantastic Gamsol kit for Prismacolors (and Polychromos) to color the tree. The Gamsol made quick work of blending the pencil so the coloring went quickly. I blended a few soft clouds in the background and added the grassy hills by die cutting 2 of the dies from Build a Scene – Grassy Hills from Lime Zest and Cilantro cardstock.
This set is so fun and I always love an adorable interactive card!!
My second card uses a new and much requested stamp set called Paw Prints and Simple Strips Woof. These stamps are great for pet lovers (and friends of pet lovers) and has many heartfelt sentiments for lots of occasions.
I started my card by ink blending a rainbow with the Masking Stencils – Hearts. The paw print stamp fits perfectly inside this (I was able to line it up by eye and stamp it in my MISTI no problem).
I stamped the paw print heart in Versamark and heat embossed with Taylored Expressions Clear Detail Embossing Powder. This gave a nice subtle impression of the stamp while still letting the rainbow heart shine.
To finish up the card I added two sentiment strips from Simple Strips Woof that I stamped on Oreo with Versamark and heat embossed in white. I added one of the dogs from Silhouettes – Large Breed and a few Snow Flurries Sequins to finish the card.
My next card is a quick and simple Father’s Day card using Brushstroke Basics and Building Blocks – Him. I tend to struggle with Father’s Day cards. Having lost my own dad 13 years ago, they always bring a touch of sadness and I struggle to get started. This doesn’t mean I don’t need them, though, because my own husband is a wonderful father to our two kids and my father-in-law is one of my most favorite humans. This card thankfully was quick to put together and quick to reproduce.
To start I created a side folding A2 card and trimmed 5/8″ off the open side of the top. I cut a 3/4″ strip of green patterned paper from the Build a Scene Paper Pack and adhered it to the inside that was exposed by cutting the extra 5/8″ off the front panel. The four squares were ink blended using the Masking Stencils – Square Windows mask and Peapod and Confetti Cake ink. The ‘dad’ die cut is from Building Blocks – Him and cut with the coordinating die. I added a bit of twine on the side and done!
That’s it for me today! I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday!
