Finished A-B-C Flutterby Piece!

Woohoo… the paint is all dry and here it is:

Spread Your Wings

I painted this on an 8″x 8″ pre-gessoed canvas. I’m going to try to walk you through all of the steps… I apologize if I leave something out. I started by mixing up a medium pink and painting the canvas all over including the sides. After this dried I mixed a pale pink and added an equal amount of acrylic matte medium to thin the paint and give it some transparency. I painted this along the edges and attempted to roughly fade it so it appeared to have a pale “halo” around the outside. Next I took Stamping Bella’s Bubble Wrap stamp and used the Ranger Acylic Paint Dauber in white to ink up the stamp and stamped it randomly around the edges. I did the same with the Stamping Bella Screen stamp. When it was dry I stamped the Stamping Bella French Script stamp in black around the edges. Next I adhered white tissue paper with Liquitex Matte Medium around the canvas. I love the texture this gives! Once it was all dry I added the butterflies cut from My Mind’s Eye Stella and Rose Hazel paper using the Matte Medium. I used some of the pale pink that I had mixed up earlier to outline the butterflies loosely. Next I used the Matte Medium to glue do Flutter Anya that I stamped on to white tissue paper using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I let everything dry again and then used a black Sharpie doodle around the edges of everything. (I recommend letting it dry over night before you doodle… acrylic paint quickly gums up a Sharpie.) I painted Anya’s skin with acrylic paint and colored her hair and dress with Copics. (Be careful if you do this to make sure the paint is 100% dry otherwise it will ruin your tips.) Next I adhered the sentiment and painted the designs on the butterflies and went around one more time with some Bitty Grunge splotches to make a little more depth. The end.

So that’s it. 🙂 I apologize for this being late. I’ve been working on it for the last three days and it just take a while for the paint to try enough to use the markers over it. If you’d like to join us at Flutterby Wednesday this week you can get the details at the Flutterby Blog.

I’m also using this for the Farm Fresh Challenge – Throwback challenge. 🙂
