New TE Stencil Masks – Thank You!
Hi everyone! Today I’m here with a brand new product from Taylored Expressions and stencil mastermind Laurie Willison that is going to change the way you use stencils forever! So Laurie had this great idea born out of frustration with masking tape – she wanted to mask off areas of a card before inking but invariably it was a gamble whether or not the tape would tear the paper – even with the most gentle tape. So she thought – what if there was a stencil that took care of the problem… a masking stencil? And boom… life changing masking stencils.
I’ve had these stencils for a while and there really isn’t anything you can’t do with them. The stencils can be used alone and just sponge a square, rectangle, circle or oval of ink on your background. You can layer up stencils over the top like I did above. Also, you can ink blend around the edges and then layer a stencil over the top and ink some more. You can mask splattering to a specific shape. They can me used to mask background stamps and large image stamps. Seriously… the ideas are endless.
The stencils come in four shapes: circle, oval, square, rectangle. Each set comes with 4 stencils: the large and small opening and large and small shape.
To make my card I started with the Masking Stencil – Rectangles (they come in 4 different shapes with other shapes in the works) that I taped to Sugar Cube cardstock. Then I layered this with the Wavy Lines Stencil and taped it down diagonally over the masking stencil. I used Honey ink with the TE Blender Brushes to gently gradate the ink from dark to light up the stencil. I then removed the stencils and was left with a perfectly masked rectangle of lines in the center. I layered this with one of the Layer It – Daisy die cuts. The leaves are from Mega Leaves which is retired but you could use the Simply Stamped – Leaves dies as a replacement. The sentiment is Thanks Script and Thanks Script Backer. I used Mushroom cardstock and vellum. To finish up I added a few clear NUVO Crystal Drops.
