Prismacolors on Kraft Cardstock
Hi everyone! Today I have a new card to share using a tried and true technique of Prismacolors on kraft cardstock.
This is a technique that I really enjoy working with and one that creates a lot of wow factor. For this technique, you can use any brand of colored pencil (even Crayola) but the more pigmented waxier brands like Prismacolor and Polychromos give the most vibrant results.
To get started I used my MISTI stamp positioner to stamp the Big Blooms Fuchsia stamp from Taylored Expressions on kraft (Toffee) cardstock using Oreo ink. I die cut the image before coloring just in case I misaligned the die. I used Prismacolors to color the image without OMS or Gamsol. I wanted the colors to really pop so I used a pretty heavy hand with the application so the colors were smooth and a little waxy. I used the white color pencil to add highlights on the leaves and flowers. For shadows, I used the purple colored pencil on the leaves and the green colored pencil on the purple, rather than using black. This gives a bit richer shadow without the flatness that using black tends to bring.
For the rest of the card, I blended a Toffee oval on Toffee cardstock using the Oval Masking Stencil and then stamped the Just Vine Background over the Masking Stencil and background so the stamp only applied to the oval. I stamped the sentiment from Bouquet Whimsy in Mocha ink in the corner and die cut the background with Stitched Rectangle Stacklets. This was attached to a Toffee cardbase with foam tape. The fuchsia flowers were attached to the center of the oval with foam tape and I wrapped twine around the top and added a small bow.
