Share Joy Challenge 13
Hi everyone! There is a new Share Joy Challenge this week over at the Taylored Expressions Share Joy blog. This week we have a sketch and color challenge!
I used both the sketch and the color challenge but I was pretty liberal with my interpretation of the sketch, lol. It’s in there though, I promise!
I started with an A2 Sugar Cube cardbase and then another Sugar Cube base layer. From there I cut a piece of Salt Water Taffy cardstock that I sponged lightly with Tumbled Glass and Mermaid Lagoon Distress ink to give it a bit of a gradient from top to bottom and adhered it to the Sugar Cube panel.
Tip of the day: Heat set your sponged cardstock after sponging – especially when using colored cardstock. I found that my finger tips lifted off the ink even after a few minutes of drying time and I had to responge my gradient.
Next I cut a thin strip of red diagonal patterned paper from Build a Scene Christmas 6×6 Paper Pack and adhered it next to the sponged piece. Next I die cut a medium sized Stitched Banner Stacklets cut from Granny Smith cardstock and two snowflakes from Make a Snowflake out of Sugar cube. I stamped the sentiment from In & Out Christmas on the banner in black ink. Next I stamped two pine cones from Simply Stamped Pine Cones on Sugar Cube cardstock using Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap and Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and a Stamp-a-ma-jig. I die cut them using the Simply Stamped Pine Cones dies and then added a little bit of Frosted Lace Stickles for snow. I assembled everything with foam tape and then added a few sequins to the gradient panel and a twine bow (of course!). Done!
I’ve been slowly getting my Christmas cards addressed and in the mail. This one is going to a very close friend who lives out of state!
