Share Joy Challenge 47: Happy Birthday
Hi everyone! I hope you are having a fantastic week so far! I am gearing up to head back to work next week. We start teacher meetings on Wednesday! I can’t believe how fast the summer has flown by. My daughter will start 7th grade this year and she is super excited. My son with start 4th grade, he’s a little less excited but I think that’s mostly because he’s going to really miss his teacher from last year!
We have a new Share Joy Challenge this week from Taylored Expressions. We have a sketch and tic-tac-toe and I went with the sketch but I modified it just a little. I ended up turning it on it’s side. I created a pair of simple birthday cards using Bold Brushstrokes and an inking technique I learned from my 12 year old! I’ll be posting a more detailed post next week about this technique along with a video.
These cards were very quick to put together. I’ve been trying to make pairs of cards when I make simpler cards to beef up my stash of frequently used card types. Birthday cards are always in short supply around here and this simple design lends itself to any recipient.
I used Rainbow Brights 6×6 paper pack for my dot papers as a foundation. I splattered a bit of ink on watercolor cardstock for the white layer and cut 1/4 strips of scrap cardstock to lay behind the sentiments. I created an ombre look by blending Pumpkin and Candy Corn together and Strawberry Milkshake and Lollipop TE Inks together. To add just a bit more accent I used Little Bits Balloons and the balloon strings from Party Time.
Here’s a look at the challenge for this week! I hope you will join us!!
