Summer School FUN!!
Happy Thursday!! So a little while ago I decided I wanted to make more cards just for fun and MFT was having a Summer School challenge (which is now over… I’m a little tardy) so I asked my friend Jill if she wanted to join me and because she’s awesome she said yes. She also finished on time – to make me look bad. LOVE YOU JILL!! 🙂 So today I’m going share with you the first three cards that I made and tomorrow I’ll be back with the final two. The first challenge was white space – I’m not going to lie – white space is hard for me. I don’t like it. I can force myself to use it and I love it when others use it but it’s HARD for me. 🙂
I happened to be in need of a birthday card for a 2 year old pretty soon so I grabbed Birdie Brown’s Beary Special Birthday out of my stash and got to work. 🙂
Card Supplies:
Stamps: BB Beary Special Birthday (MFT Stamps)
Ink: Strawberry Milkshake (Taylored Expressions), Black Amalgam Ink (Gina K)
Paper: Sugar Cube, Earl Gray (Taylored Expressions)
Dies: BB Beary Special Birthday Die-namics (MFT Stamps), Stitched Circle Stacklets, Double Ended Flag Banners (Taylored Expressions)
Other: foam tape, White Detail Embossing Powder (Taylored Expressions), rhinestones, liquid adhesive, Copic Markers
The second challenge was to use red, yellow and blue together on a card. I used some liquid watercolors for the background to create the red, yellow and blue element and then used the Happy Everything stamp set (I believe it’s retired) to stamp the sentiment.
It looks like Jill and I had the exact same idea for how to handle the red white and blue, lol, though we did it a bit differently.
Card Supplies:
Stamps: Happy Everything (MFT Stamps – retired)
Ink: Black Amalgam (Gina K), Versamark
Paper: Sugar Cube, Watercolor Cardstock, Oreo (Taylored Expressions)
Other: Lollipop, Lemon Meringue, Cookie Monster Liquid Watercolors (Taylored Expressions), Flat sequins, white embossing powder, foam tape, liquid adhesive
Third challenge was repetition. Normally I don’t struggle with this one but for some reason it took me a while to decide what to do and after sifting through stamps for awhile I saw these little chicks in BB Happy Hippos and new they would be perfect!
I stamped all the images on Sugar Cube cardstock and colored them with Copics. I used Clarity Stencil Brushes to brush on the background colors.
Card Supplies:
Stamps: Happy Hippos (MFT Stamps)
Ink: Black Amalgam (Gina K), Blue Raspberry, Lime Zest (Taylored Expressions)
Paper: Sugar Cube (Taylored Expressions)
Dies: Happy Hippos Die-namics (MFT Stamps)
Other: Copic Markers, foam tape, Clarity Stencil Brushes, liquid adhesive
Thanks so much for stopping by and checking these out! I have two more cards to share with you tomorrow. 🙂
