Taylored Expressions August Previews – Day 2

Taylored Expressions August ReleaseIt’s Day Two of previews for the Taylored Expressions August Release!! Did you like everything you saw yesterday? Weren’t the sets so fun? Today I’m using two different sets that I know you are going to LOVE!

I started my card by creating an ombré background using Squeezed Lemonade (part of the Spring special set of Distress Ink), Peeled Paint and Faded Jeans Distress Ink. To do this I cut my Choice Watercolor Paper to size and then directly applied the ink pad to the paper by rubbing it back in forth horizontally across the page until it was about 80% saturated. I tried to make the edges touch but not overlap. After all the colors were applied I very liberally sprayed the sheet with water until the colors began to run and bleed together a bit. I did dab up the run off at the edges. I used a heat gun to set the color after it was as runny as I wanted. Next I inked my Hexagon Big Background stamp with Versamark Ink and stamped my watercolor paper and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. (And note to self… let the paper cool all the way before you add embossing powder… wonder how I know, LOL!)

After the background was done I started on the white background paper. I used the Doodle Notes stamp set for this. Doodle Notes was a concept I came up with when I was searching for fun ways to leave little notes in my daughter’s lunch box last year. Nancy McKinney illustrated this set and did such a fabulous job! This set comes with 34 stamps in a great assortment of images and sentiments.

I used the zigzag arrow for the white background paper. I stamped it in Peeled Paint, Squeezed Lemonade and Faded Jeans and embossed them with clear embossing powder. The sentiment is stamped on kraft paper in Faded Jeans ink and the star is also stamped in Faded Jeans ink onto Choice Snow White Cardstock. I colored the image with Copics and added a bit of stitching to the whole card using the Peeled Paint Distress Marker using the pen tip. I distressed much of the card with a Prima Distress Tool and used a bit of foam tape and twine here and there.

As I was working on this my daughter, Evey, decided she wanted to make a card too. 🙂 She also used Doodle Notes. Her images are stamped in Memento Ink onto Choice Snow White cardstock. She used my Copics to color the image and October Afternoon 9 to 5 patterned paper. The bow is made from undyed seam binding. She made this 100% by herself. The only thing I was even remotely allowed to help with was cutting the cardbase, lol.
