TE | Doodle Birds Cardmaking Kit
Hi everyone! I hope you are well today. It is the first official Monday of summer break for me and I am SO happy to have a little time off. Are you doing anything fun for your summer? I think we might be doing a little camping and a small vacation somewhere in the summer.
Now down to business, today is the release of the Taylored Expressions Doodle Birds Card Making Kit. This kit is SO CUTE and I had tons of fun creating with it. You can find all of the kit details below:
The Doodle Birds Kit is $65 packaged in a zippered pouch with a custom sticker. The kit includes:
- Doodle Birds rubber stamp
- Doodle Birds Coordinating Dies
- Doodle Birds Digs rubber stamp
- Mini Strips – So Tweet
- The Insiders – Doodle Birds
- True Colors Doodle Birds Inspiration Cards (set of 4)
Most kit items are not available to purchase individually.
Additional products available to purchase outside of the kit: Doodle Birds Envelope Seals, The Insiders – Doodle Birds, Doodle Bird Digs Coordinating Dies, Make Like a Tree die, and Foil It -Doodle Bird Scenes.
So let’s talk about these cards! The first card I made uses the kit plus the Make a Tree Die which is an add-on to the kids. I have a list below of how I made this card.
- Cut an A2 piece of Salt Water Taffy cardstock. Ink blend the edges with Cookie Monster ink and use the Set the Scene – Grass Stencil Strips with Peapod and Lime Zest ink to create the grass at the bottom.
- Die cut the tree trunk from Cinnamon cardstock and the tree top and leave clusters from Lime Zest. Ink blend the edges of the leaves with Peapod ink.
- Stamp and die cut 4 birds, 2 looking left and 2 looking right. Color with Prismacolors and Gamsol in a coordinating color scheme.
- Stamp the Mini Strips – So Tweet stamp and die cut with Mini Strips Die.
- To assembly adhere the tree top to the background panel being sure not to add glue to the backs of the leaf flaps so you can tuck the feet of the birds in. Add the tree trunk.
- With two birds, one facing left and one facing right, carefully insert their feet into the flaps of the and adhere with a drop of glue. Adhere to tree top with foam tape.
- Add gel pen highlights if desired.
- Add the sentiment at the bottom over the tree trunk and add the whole panel to a cardbase.
For my second card I used the branch and birdhouse stamps along with two of the little birds! The list below details how to make this card.
- Die cut a piece of Confetti Cake cardstock with the third largest A2 Layer Stacklet. Using the Set the Scene Clouds Stencil Strips and Confetti Cake ink add clouds to the sky. Use Peapod with the Set the Scene Grass Stencil Strips for the grass at the bottom.
- Stamp and die cut the branch, the bird house you like and two birds from the Doodle Birds and Doodle Birds Digs stamps. Color with colored pencils and Gamsol in your preferred color scheme.
- Stamp the Mini Strips – So Tweet stamp and die cut with Mini Strips Die.
- Assemble by adhering the string to the back of the birdhouse at the length you need it. Glue the branch down to the background (you may have to trim the edge of the branch). Adhere the birdhouse and then the birds, popping the birds up on foam tape.
- Adhere the sentiment to the bottom.
