TE Sneak Peeks: Happy Birthday!

Happy 1st Birthday by Jen Shults, handmade card

It’s time for Taylored Expressions September Sneak Peeks! The September release is always my favorite – it happens to be TE’s birthday and it also always matches up with my birthday too – today in fact! We will be sharing new product all week this week with the new goodies going on sale Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 7 am PST.

Today I have two fun projects to share with you. The first is a first birthday card for a friends little girl who turns 1 on Wednesday. I used the brand new Sweet Tooth Shaker to create the cupcake shaker. TE is introducing two new ink and cardstock colors – Mocha and Key Lime. I used the Mocha cardstock for the chocolate cake layer and background piece and the Mocha ink for the sentiment.

I’ve use the TE Birthday sketch shown below for my card layout. I stayed pretty faithful to the sketch. I used the Lots of Dots Embossing Folder to add a little texture to the background and tied a twine bow around the cupcake with a Designer Mini Tag with a 1 from Mini Caps Alpha & #s.

Card Supplies:

My second card features a new die (designed by ME!!!) and is a new addition to TE’s script words dies – Happy Script. I’ve paired this die up with C’mon Get Happy and the Hexagon Cutting Plate for a quick happy card. 🙂

I started my card by die cut the Hexagon Cutting Plate from printer paper and using it as a stencil. I used Candy Corn, Lemon Meringue, Key Lime, Sprinkles and Plum Punch ink sponged on through the stencil. I die cut this with Stitched Rectangle Stacklets.

I die cut the word happy from Sugar Cube cardstock and then inked the die cut with Versamark and heat embossed it with silver embossing powder. I then inked it again and embossed a second layer of silver embossing powder to give it a super smooth metallic finish. I then layered this on top of two more Happy Script die cuts to pop it up off the background. I stamped the word Choose from C’Mon Get Happy in Oreo ink and attached the silver happy below it. To finish off I mounted this on foam tape to a Sugar Cube cardbase and added a few Snow Flurries Sequins.
