TE | Sun Kissed Summer

Hi! Happy Tuesday! I hope you are having the best week so far. I have two fun projects to share with you today from Taylored Expressions new Sun Kissed Summer release!

My first project is a mash-up of a few new and old Gnome products from TE (because they are SO FUN and I can’t resist!). These are pretty straight forward to put together, there is just a lot of parts so I’m going to walk you through which supplies I used and how I inked them up.

  • Starting with the 4 gnome base from Gnome Sweet Gnome, I die cut this from Rose Water cardstock. I love Rose Water for a base because then I can ink it up to make the Gnomes look diverse. From left to right I inked Gnome 1 with Cinnamon ink, pretty heavily; Gnome 2 with Toffee, lightly around the edges, Gnome 3 with Raspberry Sorbet lightly and then Toffee on top for that sunburned look; and Gnome 4 with Cinnamon but a lighter full coverage than Gnome 1.
  • For Gnome 1’s attire I used the hat from Gnome Sweet Gnome in Cookie Monster and Lime Zest cardstock, inking the Cookie Monster tone on tone from the outsides in. Hair is cut from Black Licorice and is from Gnome Sweet Gnome. His shirt is cut from Mango, Dragon Fruit and Lime Zest then reassembled. His shorts are from Cookie Monster and his sandals are Lime Zest. The anchor is cut with Oyster cardstock. His shirt and shorts were inked tone on tone from the edges in to create depth.
  • Gnome 2’s pieces are all from Beach Babe. Her hair is cut from Pumpkin cardstock and ink blended lightly with Cherry Pop. Her hat is cut from Salt Water Taffy and inked with Cilantro and Jelly Donut. (I used Salt Water Taffy as a base so the blend would be seamless but the colors on top would not be affected.) Her bikini and shells are cut from Teal glitter cardstock and her shoes are cut from Dragon Fruit.
  • The third Gnome uses Beach Bum for all but his hair, which is from Gnome Sweet Gnomes. For his shell hat I die cut with Macaron and ink blended with Dragon Fruit and Grape Jelly. His shorts are cut from Lime Zest and flippers from Macaron. His shell is cut from Rose Water and inked with Dragon Fruit. This mustache and hair are cut from Honey and ink blended. Unless mentioned all pieces were ink blended tone on tone.
  • The last Gnome’s hat is from Gnome Sweet Gnome as well as her hair. The hat is cut from Cookie Monster and her hair from Cinnamon. Her bikini is cut from Dragon Fruit and her shells and shoes from Teal Glitter Cardstock. The coconut is cut from Cinnamon, Lime Zest, Dragon Fruit and Pineapple scraps. Whew!

My second card combines new and old again. I’ve never had the chance to use the Pool Party stamp and die set so I was very happy to get the chance with this card. I paired it up with the new Sandy Shores background stamp. Directions for making this card are below:

  • Cut and fold an A2 cardbase from Sugar Cube.
  • Cut an A2 piece of Buttercream Frosting. Using a MISTI stamp the Sandy Shores stamp onto the Buttercream Frosting. When you stamp the Toffee stamp a couple of extra layers toward the water to make it look like wet sand. When you stamp the water start with Salt Water Taffy nearest the sand and fade to Confetti Cake where the water is deeper. You can use a Blender Brush to soften the transitions on the stamp. Trim to 3.75″ x 5″.
  • Stamp the beach ball, flip flips, and girl from Pool Party on Sugar Cube with Versafine Clair – Nocturne ink. Heat set lightly. Die cut with coordinating dies. Color with Prismacolors or other colored pencils using the Gamsol Starter Kit to help blend your colors.
  • Stamp the sentiment from Hello Sunshine on Sugar Cube with Versafine Clair – Nocturne ink and die cut with the coordinating die.
  • To assemble adhere the water panel to the cardbase with foam tape. Adhere the girl in the floaty and the sentiment with foam tape as well. The flip flops and beach ball are adhered flat. Add a few Bits & Pieces Drip Drops – Clear along the shore line to look like bubbles.
