Welcome Baby

Welcome Baby by Jen Shults

Hi everyone! Today I have a woodland animal’s baby card to share with you. My husband has a friend at work who is expecting and her shower is today so he asked me last week if I would put together a baby card for her. He doesn’t make card requests very often so when he does I always jump at the chance. His friend is having a little boy so it was fun to come up with just the right scene using these cute Little Bits animals from Taylored Expressions.

I started my card by digging through all my dies to find all the little woodland animals. In the end I settled on Little Bits Fox and Little Bits Fawn and the bird from Birch Tree Accessories. After I had everything all picked out I got to work sponging the background sky using Tumbled Glass, Mermaid Lagoon and Salty Ocean Distress Inks. I die cut the trees using TE’s Birch Tree Border die and layered it in between two cuts of the Wispy Grass Border die, one in Peapod and one in Granny Smith. Next I die cut the Fox using Pumpkin, Sugar Cube and Oreo cardstock and the Fawn using Toffee,  Sugar Cube and Oreo cardstock.

The robin was a little bit trickier as he only started with the base and the wing. To transform him into a robin I cut the base out of Earl Grey, Pumpkin and Lemon Meringue. I drew the belly on the Pumpkin die cut and hand cut it and attached it. It trimmed the beak off the Lemon Meringue die cut and attached that. And lastly I die cut the wing out of Oreo and attached that. Whew. To finish the card I added to small clouds from Little Bits Sun & Clouds and stamped the Welcome Baby sentiment from Hippo Birdy onto Oreo cardstock, heat embossed it with white embossing powder, die cut it with a Stitched Banner Stacklets die and tied twine around the end. Done!!

I hope Dani loves it! I had a lot of fun making it for her. 🙂
