With Gratitude – FBW Stripes
It’s Wednesday and that means it’s time for Flutterby Wednesday! This week our challenge is to use stripes along with a fairy, butterfly or angel. This week I combined my card with the Viva la Verve Sketch challenge and the Diva Dare over at Verve Stamps. I know… I seem to be using a lot of Verve stuff on my Flutterby cards, lol. But I can’t help it. I’ve really been loving these challenges because it lets me breaks out of my coloring mold a little bit and work in a different style. 🙂
For my card I used Basic Grey’s Curio paper and I did a lot of sponging and distressing around the edges. Now let’s talk about stripes. I know it’s pretty subtle but the yellowish background paper is striped vertically… it’s just subtle and wavy, lol. I used Spellbinder’s Labels 18 for the midground panel and traced around the die and handcut the outline layer. The heart and sentiment tag are both cut using Verve dies and I used Verve’s Word’s Cannot Express stamps set for the sentiment (and the sentiment that’s going to go on the inside). I finished it off with a seam binding bow with a bit of twine and black rhinestones that I picked up at the CHA supershow (I don’t remember the vendor). The butterfly is Martha Stewart and also has a few rhinestones down the middle.
I really like how this turned out and I’m finding I really love focusing on paper every once in a while. 🙂
I’m going to have a couple more cards today so I’ll see you back in a bit. 🙂
