Introducing the Deconstructed Sketch

It’s Thursday! Woohoo! I don’t know about you but this has been a long week. Productive, but long. Although it’s been long I’ve got an announcement today that I’ve been chomping at the bit to share. 🙂 Next Thursday will be the start of a new event around here called the Deconstructed Sketch.

The Deconstructed Sketch

I’ve been very much missing my sketch making days from Club Anya and Friends and after a bit of encouragement from a couple of friends I put together a few sketches, a logo, a design team and now we have a new challenge! I can’t wait to get started!!!

So here are the details (You can find all of this information under the Deconstructed Sketch tab at the top of my blog if you want it later).

The Deconstructed Guidelines:

Each Thursday I’ll post a new sketch along with a sample. The Deconstructed Sketch Girls will also create a sample on their blogs along with anyone else that would like to play and everyone will link up to Inlinkz. On the following Wednesday I will pick a few of my favorites and post them here on Deconstructing Jen. The Deconstructed Sketch will be sponsored one time a month, the rest of the month will be just for fun!

The first Thursday of the month will be a sponsored sketch. All participants who play that week will be eligible for the randomly drawn prize. You are welcome to enter as many times as you like with different projects using the sketch for that week. Winner(s) will be announced the Monday after the sketch closes.

Our FIRST sketch challenge will open May 12! We hope to see you then!!

The Deconstructed Sketch Girls:

I am so excited about this Design Team I just can’t tell you how wonderful they are! This group is made up of artist who have inspired me a great deal since I started this creative journey and I am so happy to be working with all of them again.  So without further yammering The Deconstructed Sketch Girls

Amber Hight

Amber Hight

Hi! I’m Amber and I’ve been stamping since 2005. I found Splitcoast Stampers shortly thereafter and fell in LOVE with stamping and all kinds of stamps!

Lately I’ve fallen in love with my Copic markers and want to color everything in sight! The Greeting Farm stamps are PERFECT for this and I am so excited to be on the Deconstructed Sketch DT with this talented bunch of designers.
I am married to my sweet Billy and he is in the Air Force. We’ve been stationed on Okinawa in Japan for the past 3 years and have 1 year left before we get to head back to the good ole’ US of A! My plan for the remainder of our time on Okinawa is to enjoy myself as a Stay at home wife, craft maven, and doggy momma to two of the world’s sweetest labradors!

Angela Sowell

I love all things crafty. Stamps and Scrapbooking are on the top of my list. I hope to share some of my love’s in life with others. And to know that I’m not the only obsessed crafter out there. I have been married to my husband Bill for over 10 years. I have three children; my daughter Destiny(17),Son Bailey(10) and my youngest Jazmine(6).

Anna Maria Nilsson

Rimna

My name is Anna Maria Nilsson but I use Rimna as my nickname on the internet. I live in a small town in Sweden. I have 3 children with the love of my life. I work full time as a childminder for 6 small children. I’ve been stamping since 2004 and and I really love this hobby. My favorite techniques is masking and distressing and I tend to create card in either very clean or very shabby style. It is a great honor to be a part of this talented team and I hope you find my work inspiring.

Arielle Gordon

I’m Arielle Gordon, wife and mom of 2 babies (15 months and 34 months)… I work full time and craft full time ( I only sleep 5 or 6 hours a day) – lol! I am on a few card related DTs and one digi scrap CT. I’m also an digi artist and just started selling digital stamps under the name Wax Fruit Company back at the end of January. Staying busy and having structure keeps my Mojo going!

Donna Wardle

Hi, my name is Donna. I am a 39 year old mum to two sons aged 11 and 13 and an amazing husband. I live in the Land Down Under in the state of South Australia in a sleepy little town called Strathalbyn. Ever since I can remember, I have been drawing and painting and have loved everything about art and crafts. I started scrapbooking about 10 years ago, stamping and card making soon followed and fast became one of my most favourite forms of paper craft. I also love photography, painting the occasional canvas, reading, exercising and scrapbooking. I was absolutely thrilled when Jen asked me to be apart of “Deconstructing Sketch” and look forward to working with the other amazingly talented ladies that make up this awesome team.

Jen Shults

My name is Jen Shults and I started stamping about 2 years ago. My style changes a lot depending on my mood and the occasion the card is for. I like clean layouts with lots of color (with a base in neutrals – I LOVE brown) but also really enjoy making grungy funkier stuff every once in a while. Of all the parts of card making I think coloring is my favorite though I do enjoy the challenge of learning new techniques – lately I’ve been working on expanding my colored pencil skills with some different styles that don’t use odorless mineral spirits but instead use burnishing and color mixing. Outside of stamping I’m mom to two little ones, Evey is six (seven this month) and Ben is four and they definitely keep me on my toes. I’m the wife of a very patient and creative man who encourages my crafty creative outlet. Last month marked our 11 year anniversary. On the career front I am a full time middle school art teacher and really love that I am able to teach a variety of mediums to kids that are of an age where they understand more complicated concepts but aren’t too afraid to take risks and try new things. Outside of card making I also enjoy portrait drawing and pencil sketching. I’m SO excited to be sharing sketches with all of you through the Deconstructed Sketch!

Jessica Diedrich

Hello!  I am Jessica Diedrich and I am THRILLED to be a part of The Deconstructed Sketch’s very first DT!  I am a HUGE fan of Jen’s sketches and an even bigger fan of Jen herself, so I’m excited to get started and be on a team with some awesome people!  have been a fan of all things paper crafting for about 7 years ago now and I think it gets more fun every day!  Who knew that a little at-home party and a ‘harmless’ catalog purchase would turn into something I needed a home addition for years later?!  Shhh! Don’t tell my hubby 😉  Actually, my “DH” is my biggest cheerleader and support system-even the occasional enabler, believe it or not!  While I have accomplished so many wonderful honors as a paper crafter, my four greatest achievements are my children, ages 11, 9, 9 and 5.  They are the inspiration behind EVERYTHING I do and the reason I enjoy creating precious paper crafted memories for my family. When I’m not gettin’ my craft on, I enjoy music and singing, water activities and a good book or two.  Oh, and there is usually coffee not very far away from wherever I am!  Give me a beach and a great Mexican or Thai dish in addition to that and I am in paradise!  Looking forward to gettin’ sketchy with you all!

Kadie Ensley

Hi stamping, friends! I’m so excited for this new blog and to be one of the Deconstructed Sketch Girls!! I started making cards nearly 6 years ago and since then I’ve met so many amazing and talented people; whom I’m constantly learning from and blessed by. I just can’t be more thankful! And it just so happens that I LOVE sketches too 🙂

For a little bit about me personally, I live in Seattle with my DH, Josh and our two Italian Greyhounds, Winston and Charlie. Josh has been uber supportive of all the craziness that is card making and I’m so grateful to him! When I’m not making cards, I enjoy spending time with my boys and my family that lives close by.
