Share Joy Challenge 22: Hi Valentine
Hi everyone! I hope you are having a great Thursday! Today is a big day at school – we are starting our clay unit in 7th grade! The kids are making masks. It’s a ton of fun and a very full day. Today is just the beginning so I will be introducing a few clay basics, passing out a lot of supplies and looking over a lot of rough drafts! <3
Now on to today’s post! Today I have a new card for this week’s Taylored Expressions Share Joy Challenge. We have a fun inspiration photo and sketch this week. I went primarily with the sketch but I think I might come back later in the week and make a card using both or just the inspiration photo because it’s so fun!
This card is going to be for my daughter to send to a friend. She asked for a few simple cards to give to her friends at school as she’s a sixth grader now and they do not exchange Valentine’s anymore (as a school rule – she would still LOVE too). Instead the 6th graders go ice skating and out to lunch while the younger kiddos have Valentine’s Day parties. It’s a little bittersweet thinking my little girl is done with holiday parties. 🙁
This card is pretty simple so I’m not going to give a run down on all the techniques. I did do a little bit of letterpress embossing in the background using the Swiss Hearts Embossing Folder. I LOVE this technique. I inked the hearts in the folder with white ink and ran it through my Vagabond. When I was done I used the debossed side of the folder with the ink down inside the hearts. It’s very subtle but I love the look!
Here’s a look at this week’s challenge:
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you will get a chance to join us this week!
