Hi friends!! Today we have a new Share Joy Challenge and it’s one of my favorites – sketch &/or clean and simple. I love this challenge as it pushes me to work outside my comfort zone a little bit! I chose to go with the CAS challenge though I’m walking a pretty thin line on this one I think, lol!
My card started out with a little inspiration from my friend Laurie who shared a fun ombre sentiment technique earlier this week. I didn’t exactly follow her demo but it did get me thinking about all the gorgeous new TE ink colors and which ones I might combine together to make a fun bright birthday card. To get started I blended Cookie Monster, Lollipop and Candy Corn on a sheet of Sugar Cube cardstock and die cut as many of the celebrate sentiments from it as I could. The celebrate die is/was a freebie with purchase from Taylored Expressions. (These rotate so they are random with each order and they are always fabulous!!)
I was on a roll with these and ended up making 3. I actually had a fourth sentiment but ran out of time to make a fourth card. 🙁 From there I die cut a bunch of Little Bits Balloons from Sugar Cube cardstock and sponged them with the same ink colors to coordinate with the sentiment. I stamped It’s Your Birthday from In & Out Birthday on Oreo cardstock with Sugar Cube ink using my MISTI and heat embossed it with white embossing powder for a little extra pop. I die cut the diagonal stripe border from Skinny Mini Borders out of Sugar Cube to fit under the sentiment. I used the string dies from Party Time to add strings to the balloons and to finish off I added a few clear sequins around the balloons. I attached these to Sugar Cube card bases with foam tape and I was done! I got a fun trio of cards finished in about an hour and a half!
These birthday cards are headed off in a number of different directions! One is for a friend of my daughters, one is for a colleague and one is for one of my friends!
Here’s a look at this week’s challenge:
