Wow, it’s been a busy week. I can’t believe it’s Thursday already. I guess spending Monday at the lake will do that, lol.
Today I have a fun card I made for the very first Simply Betty Challenge. Betty is issuing a very SPECIAL first challenge because the winner of this three week challenge will win a guest designer spot with the Simply Betty Design team for the month of August!
So what is the challenge? Well this round we have a sketch for you to use and it’s a fun one!
Here’s my card using Betty’s gorgeous London stamp. This stamp is made of deeply etched red rubber and stamps beautifully and also comes with a very sassy kitty that I decided not to use for this card… which actually means you get two for the price of one with this stamp!
The sketch is just below here so you can see where I started. I used not only the sketch but the colors from it too, lol. All of the background papers are hand made using Distress Ink and Tim Holtz Bitty Grunge stamps (Brick texture)… I’m a bit addicted to those right now. London was colored with Copics and then cut out and popped up on some Fiskars dimmensionals. For the left panel I used some Prima flowers that I added a bit of Distress Ink too as well as Rock Candy Stickles. To finish the card off I used a Martha Stewart edge punch and Offray lace ribbon.
Here’s a detail of the coloring:
Now I have to pass on a bit of wisdom I learned while making this project… I was back to being Calamity Jane with this one. First…. don’t attempt to stamp anything after you have started gluing parts together, this will always lead to disaster. Second… heat tools melt ribbon, doh. Three… Stickles go on LAST, but before the ribbon so you can use the a fore mentioned heat tool to set them faster, lol.
Be sure to head over to the Simply Betty Blog to see the fabulous project from the rest of the Design Team as well as find out about all the fun happenings that Betty has going on… she’s in a contest mood these days and has LOADS of fun stuff going on!
