Spellbinders Storage

Over at the forum for one of my design teams were were talking about die storage and specifically Spellbinders Nestabilities because they have so many parts. We all shared what we were using and I thought I’d pop on here and share my method. I use a 3-ring binder with plastic dividers. I found some 1″ magnetic tape strips at Micheal’s and have 6 strips of magnet running across each divider and I put my dies right on top of that. I currently have a 1″ binder and 9 dividers and it is holding 25 die sets with room for about 8 more. I really like that it’s portable. I pretty much can’t make anything without a Spellbinder’s die so it’s nice to have it handy when I take my stuff other places. Here’s a peak at how it’s set up:

I also use magnets to store my Spellbinders, but I have found magnetic sheets that I have glued to thicker paper, like chipboard. Then I put them in plastic pouches and in a binder with a zipper. I like the zipper as I bring my Spellbinders to scrap events, and with the zipper I am sure none will fall out.

I like to buy the magnetic knife racks at Ikea and have them right at my fingertips on my craft room wall. Love those darn things!

A very well organized friend of mine shared her Spellbinder storage with me. The items can be found at your local dollar store. In our dollar stores here in Canada they carry Compact Disc storage cases, the ones with the individual plastic separators that hold music or computer CD/DVD’s and can be zipped up for safe keeping. You then buy the magnetic sheets meant for photos and cut them to the corresponding shape/size of each separator/compartment/pocket or whatever they’re called. Don’t remove the sticky side of the magnetic sheet and simply place each of your dies on the magnetic side and slip them into their own pocket. My case holds 24 sets, and iI can actually hold the large SB dies as well. The only hitch is that it can really only be used for squares, circles, ovals, but not the border dies.

I like your method. 🙂 I use the Quickutz Magnetic Storage books. I don’t have tons of dies (maybe 16 sets??) and I can fit them all in 3 books with room for a few more.

I covered an old noticeboard in magnetic sheets and store all my dies on that on the wall – that way I can see them all at once and make sure I don’t bend them 🙂
