Taylored Expressions June Sneak Peeks: Getting Nautical

Seas the Day by Jen Shults | Deconstructingjen.com Handmade Card, stamps and dies from Taylored Expressions

Hi everyone! It’s June release time at Taylored Expressions and today we are getting nautical. I am SO excited about these new stamps and dies – they are so fun and are great for masculine cards as well as just fun any time cards. We will be sneak peaking new products Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week with new products being available Thursday, June 8, 2016 at 9 am CST. You’ll be able to find all of the new products here.

Seas the Day:

My first card uses a gorgeous new die set: On the Water – Fishing Boat. I LOVE this die set. It was easy to assemble and creates such an impressive nautical scene for anyone in your life that would prefer to spend life on water instead of on land. 🙂 (We have a few in my family!)

I started my card by assembling the boat. I used Peapod, Sugar Cube, Watermelon, and Earl Grey cardstock to piece the boat together. Next I began assembling the background. I started with a piece of Sugar Cube cardstock that I sponged with Salt Water Taffy ink from the top and fading out about 2/3 of the way down. I then added a light layer of Sprinkles to the top to deepen the sky. I stamped the sentiment in the top corner using Poppy Seed ink. I used Build a Scene – Mountain Tops and Build a Scene Rolling Hills to create the land in the background using Chocolate Truffle and Sweet Basil cardstock. For the Water I layered Cooking Monster, Sprinkles and Salt Water Taffy waves cut using Build a Scene – Rolling Waves. To finish off I added cloud cut from Sugar Cube using Stitched Cloud Duo and the little fish come with On the Water – Fishing Boat and are cut from Sweet Basil cardstock.

My second card uses three new TE products, Striped Background, Seas the Day and Little Bits – Life Preserver. I started by stamping Striped Background on Sugar Cube using Cookie Monster ink and die cutting it with Stitched Rectangle Stacklets. I stamped the sentiment with Blue Corn on Sugar Cube and die cut it with a circle die then matted it with a Watermelon oval cut with Stitched Oval Stacklets. I added the Little Bits – Life Preserver cut from Watermelon and Sugar Cube and tied with a bit of twine that I looped around the card tacking it down with small dots of liquid adhesive as I went to hold it in place.

I created a second variation of the card using another sentiment from Seas the Day and Little Bits – Anchor.
